Although you may prefer to organize your own ride on the 11th, please be advised that I am leading a ride for the Toronto Bicycling Network (www.tbn.ca) from the Port Hope Town Hall on that day. There are three routes (54 km, 73 km & 94 km), and you are most welcome to attend. Although there is a non-member ride fee of $5, I rarely collect money from local (GFW and NHCC) riders 🙂 The rides leave at 10:00 AM sharp, and maps will be supplied. If the weather is good, there will be about 60 riders in attendance; if it is raining, noone from Toronto shows up! The TBN riders are of all abilities, but rarely ride as a group. I plan to do the 73 km ride as it is the nicest of the three. The 94 km ride is VERY HILLY! There is more information on the GFW Website at: http://hedney.com/freewheelers/july.htm.

I would like to try the 94 km ride next Sunday but if I can’t talk any one else into it, like my husband!! I will ride the the 73 km ride. Thanks for the info, Brian, and the great ride today! Also on the 18th of July I would like to ride arond Rice Lake which can start from Harwood or Bewdley and is 106km, we could stop for lunch half way.

another idea for Sunday July 11 is to ride from Cobourg and do the 73 km ride to total 95 km or so

Harold does not want to ride the 94 km from Port Hope so we will ride from Donegan leaving at 9:15 sharp to arrive at Port Hope town hall for 10am and ride the 73 km ride, Sunday July 11.

As previously mentioned, my intention is to ride the 74 km route also. Since the weather will likely be good, there could be a good turnout of TBN folks, and the 74 km route will be the most popular of the three. Most folks stop for lunch en route. In that regard, there are many possibilities on this route since it passes through Newcastle at about the right time (for lunch). However, I think you will find that most of the riders will bring along a sandwich and “picnic” beside Lake Ontario. Since the ride leaves at 10:00 AM sharp, it is advisable to arrive at the Port Hope Town Hall by 9:45 AM. For those of you driving over, there is ample free parking at the Town Hall. There is usually a movement to the Beamish House for an après-ride libation. The Medium Route map is linked here: http://hedney.com/freewheelers/Events/Hill_Hop/Port_Hope_Hill_Hop_Medium.pdf, but there will be copies available at the Town Hall.

Sounds like we better leave Donegan Park at 9am Sunday July 11 to get to Port Hope by 9:45 see you then!
