Saturday January 3, 12km Hike & Indian Food, 1:00pm

After the much anticipated and beloved New Year’s Day ride and potluck at Randy’s, we’ll take a day off then hike at eat at Maria’s. We’ll hike about 12km of hilly trails, but if some wish to do a flatter and shorter hike, we could try to offer an alternative if there’s demand for it. Indian food to follow. Bring along your drink of choice. NHCC will be starting off 2015 right!

Date: Saturday, January 3rd, 2015
Time: 1:00pm
Meeting Time at Car Pool Lot 45/401: be ready to leave at 12:30
Location: Maria’s outside of Warkworth
Hike Leader: Maria Siemiaszko (12km hike)
Please RSVP by leaving a comment to say you’re coming so we can plan accordingly.

Sunday Nov. 16: Hike at 12 noon

We’ll be hiking on trails southwest of Warkworth. It’ll be fairly hilly with a mix of forest and fields. Be sure to bring fluids and a snack.

Since it’s a bit of a drive it may be a good idea to car pool. Port Hope folks can meet at Gilmer’s Home Hardware and leave there at 11:15 to swing by the 45/401 car pool lot to meet up with anyone leaving from Cobourg at 11:30. Please let us know if you are coming and whether you’re interested in sharing a ride, and we’ll give you the address and directions. nhcycling2010@gmail.com

Monday, May 12th: Level 1 Ride

Hopefully the forecast thunderstorms will be over by the time 6:30 rolls around. This time we will meet in the parking lot behind the Dutch Oven in downtown Cobourg. Although the days are getting longer, it is important to know that the Highway Traffic Act requires cyclists to have lights on their bicycles 30 minutes before sunset: a white one on the front and a red one on the back. There are lights to “be seen” and lights “to see”, all of which we’ll talk about prior to the ride.

Notes: Helmets are mandatory, bring your membership card, and if you mailed in your forms, your cards will be available for you at the ride.

Time: 6:30-8:00pm
Difficulty: Level 1
Sunset: 8:28pm (lights required at 7:58)
Start location: Parking lot behind the Dutch Oven (enter from Albert St.)

Level 1 Ride, Monday, August 12th

We’ve been enjoying some stellar riding weather so lets take advantage of it while we can!  Although this is a level 1 ride and we will stay in town and cruise at a chatting pace, any level rider is welcome to join us.  The daylight hours are becoming noticeably shorter so don’t forget your lights!

Time:  7:00 pm

Location:  parking lot behind the Dutch Oven

Ride Leader:  Maria Garrett

Monday Night Level 1 Ride

If the rain stays away, we’ll meet at the west side of the Furnace Street Arena for a casual ride around town.  Since it’s a little cool, we won’t make this one an ice cream ride, but bring a drink for hydration and don’t forget your bike lights.

Time: 7:00pm
Location:  Furnace Street Arena, west side
Ride Leader: Maria Garrett

Level 1 Ride, Monday, July 8th

After a break for Canada Day, we will resume our Level 1 ride this week.  For those who are curious as to what a Level 2 ride is like, we’ll offer a chance for you to try it at your own pace this Wednesday (we’ll discuss this more at the ride on Monday). It’s always important to stay hydrated, especially with the hot weather we’ve been having so don’t forget to bring a drink – and your lights.

Time:  7:00 pm

Location:  Parking lot behind the Dutch Oven

Ride Leader:  Maria Garrett

Level 3-4 Monday Morning Ride

This is a ride for those interested in a few hills at a 3 to 4 level. We’ll see what time constraints anyone may have when we meet, any hills we may have our hearts set on, and take it from there.
Time: 9:30 am
Location: Furnace Street Arena (west side)
Ride Leader: Maria Garrett

No Level 1 Ride Monday, July 1st

There will be no Level 1 ride this Monday, July 1st.  In trying to keep our routes as flat as possible we can’t avoid the downtown area and it will be very busy with Waterfront Festival and Canada Day celebrations.  We’ll resume our Monday evening rides the following week.  Of special note for those wondering if they can do a Level 2 ride, we’ll have a special opportunity for you to try what it’s like on Wednesday, July 10th.  Watch for more information on this ride.

Happy Canada weekend!
