Sunday November 9, Hike from Sylvan Glen 10am

Last week an enthusiastic bunch of six hikers went 10k and loved every moment. This week, we meet at Sylvan Glen and we’ll head north. Same as last week, if anyone wants to grab a quick lunch afterward, that can be negotiated too! Wear some comfy shoes, and few layers so you can adjust for changes in temperature.

Start time: 10am
Start location: Sylvan Glen (Parking available)
Hike leader: George Hussey

Pleeeease….leave a comment so George knows you plan to attend.

Wednesday Night Hike Night: November 5

By all accounts, everyone is enjoying our off-season activity of hiking. There’s no shortage of conversation and laughs. Bring a flashlight though. Now that the time has changed, we’ll be needing it more than ever. (Headlamps work great too)

Please leave a comment letting us know you plan to attend.

Sunday November 2: Hike from Port Hope, 10am

It’s off-season for cycling, and that means we find other fun ways to keep moving. Tomorrow it’s hiking! We’ll meet in the Port Hope Town Hall parking lot and then hike to Sylan Glen and back. If anyone wants to grab a quick lunch afterward, well, we can negotiate that too!

Important: Don’t forget that the clocks turn back tonight. If you forget, you might show up at 10 and nobody will be there!

Start time: 10am
Start location: Port Hope Town Hall parking lot
Hike leader: George Hussey

Pleeeease….leave a comment so George knows you plan to attend. That way, he won’t stand in the parking lot wondering if people forgot to turn the clocks back.

Wednesday Oct. 29 Night Hike: Port Hope

It’s supposed to be 13° which is great, because after that it will be just 4° by Saturday. So, let’s enjoy it while we can! If you haven’t been out to a hike yet, we’d love to see you come out. If you have a headlamp or flashlight, we recommend bringing it. By the way, it’s almost Halloweeeeeeeen, so you never know what sort of tricks or treats might be along the route.   🙂

Start time: 6:00pm
Start location: Port Hope Town Hall
Hike leader: George Hussey

Please leave a comment to let George and others know that you are going to be joining in.

Ride & Lunch: Sunday Oct. 26th

crawfordslogoForecast for Sunday: Sunshine and 13°. That sounds like good riding weather to us! Also, the hiking bunch were out the other night, and discovered a new restaurant that just opened on Thursday. It’s as cute as a button inside so it’s only fitting that we plan on some lunch. We even picked up a menu so you can pre-think it. The restaurant is located down at the harbour, across from the beach. We’ll start and finish in Port Hope but you can make it a little longer by starting in Cobourg at 9:30.

Start time: 10:00am (Port Hope), 9:30 (Cobourg)
Start location:
Port Hope: Town Hall, or
Cobourg: Carlisle Park, between Westwood and Ewing
Route Map: To come (expect around 50k, or more if you start in Cobourg)

Please leave a comment if you plan to participate. We might like to let the restaurant know how many might converge upon them at noon. 🙂

Hike Night! Wednesday October 22

It’s cool and crispy, but great weather to go for a casual, friendly hike. We meet at the usual time and place. This week however, please bring a headlamp if you have one. It’s getting dark out there very early, but that’s no reason to cut the hike short. 🙂

Start time: 6:00pm
Start location: Port Hope Town Hall
Hike leader: George Hussey

Please leave a comment to let George and the others know that you are gonna come out!

Sunday Oct. 19: 30k Ride, Beta-test, and Pizza

The weather is looking not too bad for Sunday, and the NHCC has been asked if we would beta-test a chip device and app that tracks distance, speed and location. So, how about it? We will just do a nice and easy ride, no speeding involved. And when it’s all said and done, Port Hope Bicycle is going to provide pizza. 🙂 The route will be the 30k Glorious Ganaraska Route (Northumberland Tourism) and it’s level of difficulty is not crazy, making it suitable for Levels 2+ to 4. If it’s a little on the chilly side for you, be sure to layer up, and bring a printout of the route map with you.

Start time: 10am
Start location: Port Hope Town Hall
Ride Leader: George Hussey
IMPORTANT: To ensure enough pizza for everyone, pleeeeease RSVP by leaving a comment.

Wednesday Oct. 15: Hike Nite, 6pm

We’ll start in Cobourg at 10, picking up the others from Port Hope around 10:30 at the Town Hall. We’ve got some sunshine in the forecast and not too cold.
