Carlos Del Junco and the Blues Mongrels at the Capitol, Feb. 1st

Carlos Del Junco at the Capitol TheatreHellooooooooo NHCC members! We just wanted to bring your attention to the really fabulously talented, spectacular musician Carlos Del Junco who is not only one of our very own NHCC members but also a world-class harmonica player. Some of us travelled down to Picton recently to hear Carlos Del Junco and the Blues Mongrels (quartet) and we were mesmerized! So much so, that we want to let everyone know that he’s playing at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope. It’s not entirely Jazz, not always Blues, but always a whole lotta fun! There are several of us planning to make an evening out of out, and hopefully you will too.

Date: Friday, February 1st
Time: 8:00pm
Place: Cameco Capitol Arts Centre, Port Hope
Cost: $33 (Tickets available online at the Capitol Theatre Website: http://capitoltheatre.com

Among Carlos’ many recognitions are two Gold Medals from the Hohner World Harmonica Championship in Trossingen, Germany, as well as multiple national awards in Canada which includes Carlos’ eight time Harmonica Player of The Year wins out fifteen years of the Maple Leaf Blues Awards.

If anyone wants to meet at a local restaurant beforehand and enjoy a bite to eat, let’s use the comment feature to start that conversation!

  1. Randy, Vivian, and I already have tickets in our hot little hands. Randy and I were fortunate enough to have seen him perform in Picton and loved it!

  2. I have seen him he is incredible. I will be going. Get your tickets early.could be sold out. Thanks for the heads up.

  3. Wow, that sounds amazing. Unfortunately, it conflicts with the Northumberland Film Sundays festival and we already have tickets for that. I hope lots of people from the club turn out and you have a great time.

BTW, Friday is NOT Feb. 1.

  4. Jill, Paul & Rick N have their tickets.
I have a Carlos cd playing daily to warm up. I have seen Carlos open for New Orleans piano player Dr. John in Toronto where he stole the show. I first saw him on Queen St. east at Beaches Jazz Streertfest. He has opened twice at the Port Hope Canadian Jazz festival as well including the famous ‘Powder Blues Band’. We are so lucky to have an opportunity to enjoy this amazing player so close to home.

Anita where are you dining before the show ?

    • We haven’t decided yet….thought we’d wait and see how many want to dine beforehand. Do you have any suggestions? If there’s just a few of us, perhaps Jims Pizza.
