Sunday June 22: The NHCC Sharon Ingle Memorial Ride

sharon-lrThis Sunday is a little different. To honour an NHCC club member who lost her fight to cancer at the end of last year’s riding season, we are holding a ride to honour Sharon Ingle who was with us for a brief time but left a significant impact on those who knew her.

Last year at this time Sharon sought support from the NHCC as she was still “Riding to Survive”, never planning to give up.

Donations: We are asking all who wish to participate in the ride on Sunday to make a voluntary donation that will be forwarded to the Canadian Cancer Society. We will have forms available for those who wish a tax receipt from the Cancer Society. (Please make cheques payable to the Canadian Cancer Society, not the NHCC).

The route: will be a simple out-and-back along the Waterfront Trail Eastbound so there are no route maps or ride leaders needed. We will break into groups according to ability and everyone can ride as long (or short) as desired.

Start time: 10:00am
Start location: Donegan Park

Please leave a comment letting others know approximately what level of difficulty you wish to ride at (Levels 1 – 4). That way, others can plan to ride with you!

  1. I’m somewhere between a level 2 and 3
Sharon was my BFF and I’m so touched that you’ve decided to organize a ride in her memory! Thanks so much!

    • Pauline, i remember you well, and know she was your BFF. You are most welcome to join us for the ride on Sunday. I remember both of you coming out to ride last year together….

  2. I did get to know Sharon as she and my cousin were fighting similar battles. Sharon lost her battle last fall and my cousin just lost her battle a week ago. I would love to be able to participate in this ride but am currently in NFLD. I hope there will be another fund raiser ride next year and I woulds hope to participate in that one.

    • Jim, i am so sorry to hear about your cousin. We will ride with her (and you too) in our thoughts too.

  3. Unfortunately, I will be out of town and not able to participate in this ride. My friendship with Sharon, sadly too short, will always remain dear to me. She was an awesome person! My thoughts will be with all of you and be safe!

  4. I plan to ride and have invited my friend Linda from Mississauga who was Sharon’s training partner and teammate.

  5. I plan to ride as well. I would plan to ride to Brighton, have a coffee and then ride home. All at a leisurely pace. say 22 kph.
