Sunday May 6: Special Event! Anniversary Ride & Burgers

The NHCC is celebrating seven years old! To mark the occasion we are having a Welcome/Anniversary Ride for all NHCC members followed by a BBQ afterward at Randy and Anita’s home on Smylie Rd. It’ll be a simple ride, out-and-back style (for a total of 90 minutes). This style of ride means that everyone rides at their own pace and everyone finishes at the same time. The NHCC will provide complimentary post-ride hamburgers (either beef or veggie) and other tasty things to enjoy while we lollygag around the yard and deck, hopefully enjoying some sunshine and time with friends both old and new. All members are welcome! If you can’t make it for the ride, you are welcome to come for the Burgers & Social portion that starts at noon.

The route will be suitable for all levels, from Level 1 to Level 4.

Date: Sunday May 6, 2018
Start time (Ride): 10:00am
Start time (BBQ): NOON
Start location: Smylie Rd. and Burnham St. (Park along Smylie Rd.)
Route map: not required, you’ll just follow the crowd!
RSVP (IMPORTANT): Please leave a comment or email us to let us know your preference for either beef or veggie burger, and let us know if you need the exact address: nhcycling2010@gmail.com.

It’s Valentines day and it’s going to be a nice 2c, so bring your other half, or just a friend and hike with us as we weave and explore the streets of Port Hope. We usually head into some local establishment afterward to reflect on how fast we walked while and enjoy some sort of bevvy & snacks.

Start time: 6:00pm
Location: Port Hope Town Hall parking lot

Thursday Sept. 21: Evening Ride (Level 3/4)

This Thursday is our second last official Thursday evening ride of the season. The days are just getting too darn short! The sun is setting at 7:10pm, which means if we start at 5:30 we’ll get about 90 minutes of riding, heading out along Danforth and up around the Grafton area. We’ll start at Cycle Transitions and squeeze in 34km of beautiful, warm evening pedalling!

Start time: 5:30pm
Ride Leader: Anita Macklin
Start Location: Cycle Transitions parking lot on D’Arcy St.
Route Map (34k): Printable rout map here, or link to it on Ride with GPS

Sunday Sept. 24: 100km (or less) ride to Presquile

It’s here! The 100km ride is set to go on Sunday at 9:30am. We’ve got some beauty weather in store for y’all! 28c and nothing but sunshine & sunscreen! If you want to participate but don’t want to cover the whole distance you can turn around at the Community Centre in Colborne and make it 50km. Or, just come on out for whatever distance you want by turning around at any point along the way. People will be riding at a variety of pace…some fast, some slow.

If you plan on completing 100km, be sure to stash away a little trail mix or something else in your back pocket. We’ll ride there, ride back, maybe with a stop at the variety store in Colborne to load up on snacks, unless people plan among each other to stopover in Brighton for a bite to eat.

Just so others can plan, please leave a comment to let us know your planned distance.

AGM Tickets: While you are at it, why not bring $30 and pick up your AGM Tickets. We’ll have them available at the start of the ride. (AGM Date: Thursday Oct 19, 2017)

Start time: 9:30am
Start location: Cobourg Memorial Arena on Furnace St.
Ride Coordinator: Anita Macklin

Thursday June 8: Level 4 Ride to Harwood (55km)

There’s no rain in the forecast for Thursday! Time to add a little distance, so we are heading to Harwood for a 55km total ride. We’ve got 2 hours and 22 minutes to complete the ride before the sun sets. Make sure you have lights on your bike, since the law requires lights on 30 minutes before sunset. Hills and speed will make for a Level 4 ride!

Ride Leader: Anita Macklin
Start time: 6:30pm
Start location: The arena on Furnace St.
Route Map: Printable 55k map/cue sheet or link to it on Ride with GPS

So how ’bout it? Let us know you are going to ride so he can know how many to expect at the start.

Thursday May 18: Level 4 ride (37 or 47km)

It’s FAST-ride night! That means speed rather than strength & hills. We won’t fib to you ….there are always a few hills. You’ll have two distances to choose from, beginning from the Hamilton Township Offices parking lot. We’ll head up to Gore’s Landing and then take Rice Lake Scenic Drive to Harwood. That’s the point where you’ll decide whether or not to take the extra 10k extended route or just head south on Harwood Rd. Chris Miller will be your ride leader tonight, and it’s his first time leading, so go easy on the guy! 🙂

Start time: 6:30pm
Start location: Hamilton Township Offices parking lot (Burnham St. and Majestic Hills Rd.)
Ride Leader: Chris Miller

Route map (47k): Printable map (to come), or link on Ride with GPS

Hey, how about leaving Chris a comment to let others know which distance you hope to do? It helps him to know how many people to expect.
