New Years Day Hike & Potluck

It’s a little short notice, but hey we’ve got this little New Years tradition. We usually go for either a bike ride or a hike on the first day of the year, and this time it’s going to be a Hike followed by a potluck at Randy & Anita’s house afterward and some social time. Probably a good idea to wear some suitable footwear in case we hit some muddiness on the hike. All are welcome to join us, either for the hike, the potluck, or both. Feel free to bring a friend or neighbour! If you need our address please email us nhcycling2010@gmail.com and we’ll send it along.

Please bring your favourite beverage and something to share at our potluck. We’ll have the necessary dishes and utensils.

Date: Friday, January 1st
Hike/Walk: 2:00pm
Potluck: 4:00pm
Address: Email us for the address

A thank you to our Friends in the NHCC

IMG_1520Dear Friends,
Randy and I want to take a moment to thank all our friends in the NHCC who helped to make our recent marriage celebration such fun, and so memorable. We loved seeing all those blue jerseys and happy smiling faces at the town hall after our ceremony. We’ve always said it feels like everyone in the Club is like family to us, and you sure did make it feel that way for us with your cheering and enthusiasm!

We also want to say that we are especially grateful and thankful for the unexpected and very generous gifts from our “Friends in the NHCC”. We will be dining in style for some time to come! For those who came to the outdoor celebration in the evening at Randy’s house, thank you for braving the elements to celebrate with us. Your presence seemed to diminish the outside temps and made us feel warm and cozy.

Thursday, May 14th: Level 3/4 ride

This week we’ll be riding a route Brian Hedney designed for the NHCC a few years ago. The “Western Wanderer” starts at the Gilmers Home Hardware parking lot in order to avoid climbing out of Port Hope. By the way, for those who aren’t sure how it works, the format of the Level 3 and 4 rides are such that we do the same ride on both Thursday and then again on Sunday morning.

Date: Thursday, May 14th
Time: 10:00am
Level of Difficulty: Level 3 or Level 4 (Click here to review the expectations)
Route Map: Printable route map here
Start Location:Gilmers Home Hardware parking lot in Port Hope under the big sign.
Ride Coordinator: Anita Macklin
Bring your membership card or completed membership/guest rider form and payment.

Leaving a comment: Why do we ask you to do this? Sometimes people are apprehensive about coming out for a ride because they believe there won’t be anyone to ride with at their pace. Leaving a comment to indicate that you’ll be joining us and what level you plan to ride helps reassure others and allows them to plan ahead.

Hike tonight, Cancelled: It’s just too insanely cold and windy out there, which just takes all the fun out of hiking. Sorry folks—See you all next time!

Wednesday Oct. 15: Hike Nite, 6pm

The hike is on, rain or shine. Heck, even if it rains, thats what raincoats and boots are for!

Start time: 6:00pm
Start location: Port Hope Town Hall
Hike leader: George Hussey

Please leave a comment to let George know you will be there.

Wednesday, October 8: Hike Nite

Everyone seemed to enjoy it last week and most if us saw areas of Port Hope we never knew existed. We saw gigantic fish, hills and valleys, and a little wilderness. We will meet again on Wednesday and head out into parts unknown (or known). 🙂

Time: 6pm
Location: Port Hope Town Hall parking lot
Hike Leader: George Hussey

Let George know if you are planning to attend. Leave a comment, please.
