Level 3 Group Rides: June 10 and 12

Monday June 10: Level 3

Lots of daylight to work with! With 2 hours 23 min of available daylight we’ll have plenty of time for a 40km distance. This route will introduce you to Bickle Hill, but have no fear! We will approach if from the east and make sure we take it nice & slow and everyone will re-group at the top. Make sure you have lights on the front and backs of your bike since the law requires them commencing at 30 minutes before sunset.

Friday Floater ride: Are you participating?

Friday Floater: RSVP if you are coming. A number of folks have previous commitments tomorrow and so far there hasn’t been any comments that anyone is planning to participate in the Friday Floater Ride. Randy and Anita are asking that if you are planning to come, leave a comment to let us know….it’s a long way to go to the ride start to find nobody there!

Level 3: Monday June 3 and Thursday June 6

Note: The second ride has been re-scheduled until Thursday this week, rather than Wednesday.

Days are getting longer! We have about 2 hours and 20 minutes of daylight for evening rides this week so we will try to extend the distance a little. We are riding from Port Hope on Monday night.  On Thursday night we will start with the Level 4 group and separate into two groups (Level 3 and 4) as the ride progresses.

What to expect on Level 3: This is a group ride. In the spirit of a group ride, all participants are expected to stay together without dropping any rider off the back, nor should any individual move ahead of the ride leader who will select and set a pace that fits within the Level 3 parameters.

Thursday June 6: Level 3

This Thursday we are going to try and squeeze in a long ride with the 2 hours 20 min of available daylight so we’ll keep up a good pace and hopefully get 57km in. But if time really does limit us we also have a shorter 44km route to fall back on. We’ll need lights on bikes for sure!
Ride Leader: Mike Collins
Start time: 6:30
Sunset: 8:50pm
Elevation:  400m (short route)

Friday Floater Ride: May 31

This week Raff and Carson are leading the Friday Floater Ride, leaving from Cobourg and heading up to Bewdley and back for about 59km on some familiar roads. Bring a few $ with you in case the group happens to stop in Bewdley for goodies of some sort (highly likely). If you are planning to participate, it really helps out the ride leader if they know there are people are coming, so leave a comment to let Raff & Carson know.

This ride will maintain an early season Level 3 pace and nobody will be dropped. Road bikes are strongly recommended.

Start time: 10:00am
Ride Leaders: Raff & Carson

Start location: Cobourg Memorial Arena on Furnace St.

Level 4 Rides: Tuesday May 28 and Thursday May 30

Tuesday May 28, Level 4 (48k)

This is a nice route that takes us up Ferguson and Sully (with a few other roads in between), toward Harwood. Then we return all the way back down Harwood Rd. We are keeping the rides a little northward due to the abundance of bugs in the air down near the lake.

Level 4 on Standby for tonight: (In case it clears)

Crazy weather! Who the heck knows. But a few people are thinking the weather will clear and want to ride if it does. So, JUST IN CASE it clears by 6:00, Randy and Anita are preparing bikes and getting ready to hit the road if it does.  We will leave a comment right here at 6:00 saying YES or NO ride.
