Meet at 6:30pm for our Evening Urban Exploration Hike! This time we are starting in Cobourg and we’ll do a Christmas lights tour and who knows what else—bring headlamps & flashlights cuz we tend to find ourselves in all sorts of strange places! Dig out those strings of lights and get decorated. We’ll be all lit while we walk! We’ll aim for about 2-2.5 hours and cover about 8-10km.

We’re all ready to roll for 2022! If you didn’t renew your membership already at the AGM, our online registration is now open.  Memberships for 2022 will remain $45 and it’s super easy to do it online. We are hoping for plenty of x-country skiing, hiking and maybe even snowshoeing over the winter.

We did Cobourg for the past few weeks, so this week we’ll switch back to Port Hope—mostly because we want to go see the big lights display on Choate Road. You know the one….it’s really something else! And if you don’t know, come on out and see for yourself.  It’s worth the walk. It’s about a 10k hike, and we recommend you bring a headlamp or flashlight.  And hey, let’s get festive this week and put our lights on!

Last week we had a fabulous hike with 10 people who came out, making the most of a misty damp evening.  But don’t let the weather fool you! By all accounts it was a whole lot of fun and we went 11km! This week we will meet for a Cobourg start again. We usually go out for about 2 hours, so wear some comfortable footwear and layer up.

Tuesday Night is our AGM! There’s still time to let us know you plan to attend. It’ll be fun! We’ll have refreshments, 2022 Memberships for $35 (for those in attendance), a few door prizes, and happy smiling faces everywhere. Please note that the Baltimore Community Centre requires that all persons must provide proof of vaccination to enter the building and wear masks while inside (except while eating).

Club Jerseys will be available for purchase: Snap one up for this coming season, or hey, they make great Christmas gifts!  The new style jerseys are $80, and we have all sort of sizes available. If you are looking for a bargain, the blue “classic” jerseys are half-price (limited sizes available). In case you missed it, here’s what the new jerseys look like!

We have two different hikes this week, two totally different styles! On Tuesday afternoon (1pm) we meet at the Northumberland Forest for a forest experience and the Thursday evening (6:30pm) in the parking lot on Albert St (10 Albert St). we will start from downtown Cobourg for an urban hike—which often leads to a beverage at a local establishment afterward. Last week for instance, we discovered that the new brewery in Port Hope has great beer! You can find all the details and also RSVP on the Cycle Club app!

This is the official notice of our upcoming AGM, where we conduct a little official club biz, then get down to the best stuff, our Social Festivity where we’ll see happy smiling faces, muse about how much we love cycling, re-connect with friends we may not have seen for a while. This is just a little pre-announcement so that you can put the Annual General Meeting & Social on your calendars.  We’ll be holding it the evening of Tuesday November 30th (around 6:30), at the Baltimore Recreation Centre. This one is in-person, and the venue is huge enough that everyone can spread out however far you need to feel comfortable! This year we will reflect on 10-Years of the NHCC.

Plan to come on out for the evening! In addition to the required business of electing Directors for the Board and a few other official biz things, we’ll have yummy refreshments, there’ll be those groovy new Club Jerseys to purchase, and of course for this night only, current club members will be able to renew memberships for the best price of the year—$35!

Hey! It’s a Social—all members of the NHCC are welcome to attend, and you are also invited to bring your significant other, who by the way, may also get a membership for $35!!

Let’s hope it doesn’t rain for Thursday’s Evening Hike! And for those who aren’t all that familiar with the Evening Hike, we can tell you that we walk briskly up and down those hills, and get a workout! Sometimes a few of us venture into a local establishment afterward (optional, of course) for a little refreshment—meaning, beer, soft-drinks, heck…maybe even fries! That’s of course, only if you are COVID-comfortable in doing so!
