This Monday is our Cycling Safety Essentials—Theory & Best Practices — it’s a compact 2-hour comprehensive information session designed to cover core cycling safety principles (no bike required). We don’t just talk about what to do, but we explore WHY. With a deeper understanding of traffic dynamics you’ll be safer and more confident. You’ll be able to apply the understanding in analytical ways to avoid potential road hazards. If you think you “already know” —we challenge you to come out—we promise you, EVERY club member could take away some new knowledge.
If you’ve ever thought riding tight to the curb is best…..we’ll convert you. Discover why announcing “clear” intersections is risky. We’ll discuss when and why to ride in the middle of the lane. Learn about when, why, and more importantly if riding two-abreast can be safer than single file. We’ll look at all the angles—from the perspective of cyclists, as well as sharing the road safely and intelligently with motorists.
(Pssst…..if you’ve been riding for years, all the more reason to come out—Be that person willing to learn some new best practices!)
All the details are on the RWGPS Events Calendar, where you can RSVP to let us know you are coming.
