NEW for July. We are trying a new format for the month of July and have Level 3 and 4s riding the same nights (Monday’s & Wednesday’s). Believe it or not, after this Wednesday the days start getting shorter!
Level 4 will depart 5mins before Level 3. Both travel the same route as far as Little Rd where Level 4s continue on with an additional 14 Km loop. Level 4s self-navigate, so be prepared with map / loaded RWGPS route. Level 3 is a normal a group ride.
Ride Leader (Level 3 Group Ride): Allan Dennis
Start times: (Level 4, 6:30) (Level 3, 6:35)
Sunset: 8:57

Not surprisingly I’ll be there! The Old Sapper
It’s cool to do this combined ride once in a while but the difficulty with doing it all season is that for a level 3/4 rider there used to be 4 evenings a week from which to choose depending on whether you wanted to ride harder or have a nice group ride at level 3. Now there are only two nights and if you aren’t available on one of those nights (I’m not available on Wednesdays) then you are down to one possible evening a week. I’m just suggesting that this will curtail the amount of riding we all do together. That’s just my opinion. I would support still having two evenings for level 4 and two different evenings for level 3. I made a decision to join the club based on how often I’d be able to ride with the group with that schedule. It won’t work out very well for me now and maybe not for some others who want to ride more nights.
Agree entirely!
I will be there for the level 3 ride. Thank you. Katherine
I plan to ride level 3
I am hoping to ride tonight. Level 3 or 4.
Peter, Tara,
Please don’t shoot the messenger or ride leader in this case! Very fair comment. We need to make sure that your comments are passed on to the NHCC president and committee. I’ll make sure they are aware. Looking forward to tonight’s ride. Allan
I am unable to make the ride tonight due to prior commitments. I am however going to post a 45K Friday Floater ride from the Darlington Soccer Fields to the Whitby harbour following the waterfront trail. Start time of 10 am.
This will feel like a L3 or advanced L2 ride.
With respect to the the Level 4 rides. Despite our efforts we are having trouble getting ride leaders to step forward. Also, attendance has been low or in some recent cases no one has shown up at all.
As coordinator, I took a vacation and but am back now. Perhaps on the ride tonight there can be a discussion regarding taking turns as L4 ride leaders?
Have a great ride folks and hope to see some of you Friday morning.
Thanks Allan for leading the level 3 ride on Wednesday…it was a good lesson in “follow the leader” don’t you think!? Sorry for the late response as I was out of town until this morning.
Personally, I like the level 3/4 option. There is nothing preventing anyone from leading a ride, at whatever level, on Monday evenings…just let the ride coordinator know a few days in advance so it can be posted.
