Every September we do a 100km ride (with a 50km option too) to Presqu’ile Park and back. It’s a great goal to work toward if you are looking to set a goal! This is about the flattest (aka easiest) 100k around and we should all be in great shape to give it a try. We’ll aim to scheduled it for the weekend of September 23 or 24th, whichever day looks better. Should that weekend be a total fail as far as weather goes, we’ll do it the following weekend. So, mark your calendars and start preparing.
For this ride the normal route is to take Union Rd from hwy 2 to get to Lakeshore. I was on that 2Km portion of Lakeshore from Union Rd to Presqu’ile Park a few days ago. The road has been paved using that rough gravel that is now being used more often. It is very hard to ride on a road bike. I suggest to turn on Huff Road to get to Lakeshore. That way the rough portion is only 1/2 km. Besides that, hwy 2 from Union to Huff road has been newly paved with smooth asphalt and they’ve also allowed for a bike lane.
Count me in. Also, let me know if I can assist in any way.
I RSVP’d via FB but will add my name here as well. Aiming to do the 100k – will be my first !
Just checking in to see if a decision has been made between riding on the Saturday or Sunday this weekend? It’s Tuesday , aren’t we all thinking about the weekend already???
