Sunday May 18th: Ride to Presqu’ile and back

2012 NHCC Ride to Presqu'ile

Previous NHCC Ride to Presqu’ile Park

This Sunday is the first of our Long-weekend Century Rides. You don’t, however, need to go the whole distance. Make it a 50k by turning around in Colborne. For 100k, we ride to the lighthouse at Presqu’ile Park then return home. Take a lunch-break at a restaurant in Brighton, or stay on the move by bringing some sustenance with you (aka portable snack foods) and lots of water.

This ride will also be open to members of the Ganaraska Freewheelers and the Cobourg Cycling Club who may ride free of charge as our invited guests (a waiver must be signed though—get your waiver here).

This is not about speed, it’s about going the distance. How long does it take to ride 100km? Between 4 and 5.5 hours, not including breaks. Level 3 travels together, level 4’s may break off into groups according to ability.

Time: 9:00am
Start Location: The parking lot behind the Dutch Oven
Skill level: Levels 3 and 4
Route map: Waterfront Trail (signed route—no route map necessary)

Leave a comment to let others know your plans regarding distance and lunch.

  1. Weather permitting I plan to join the 100km level 4 ride and will bring munchies to keep me going! Looking forward to this ride! 🙂

  3. Brighton has been doing allot of road work for the better for a change. There in now a bike path beside #2 going from Brighton to Wooler road just outside Trenton. Also heading north out of Brighton on #30 I will look at how far it goes up toward the 401 and repost the information. The road going into Presqu’ile is very broken up in parts after a short paved section.
If you could pass on the information to others please

  4. update of bike path
The bike path going out of Brighton up #30 only goes as far as CR #26. It does not go any further north toward the 401. There are parts of a paved run off but is broken up in several spots. Lets hope they make the BP all the way to the 401 so you can go along Telephone road east and west

  5. I didn’t realize this ride started at 9:00 a.m. until Josie emailed me last night! I would have showed up at 10:00 and missed it. I guess I have to read the posts better. See you at 9:00 a.m. A cool start but it should warm up nicely. I hope!
