Ride: Thursday Sep 15th: Waterfront Trail Eastbound

This Thursday we’ll take the Waterfront trail and go Eastbound this time, heading as far East as anyone wishes and turning around whenever you feel you’ve reached your halfway point. We won’t be providing a map for this ride because we’ll be following a marked trail, plus it’s very straightforward.

Start time: 10:00am

106km Labour Day Ride: Monday, Sept. 5th (Around Rice Lake)

Please note that this will be a 9:00am start.

The route: 106km. (Okay, so it’s a little more than 100). It’s hilly in portions, and will certainly be a challenge. This is a ride for those of you who are looking for some serious distance.

Lunch: Hastings is a halfway point, so we suggest stopping for lunch at La Gondola’s which will be on the left hand side of the road as you pass through town. There’s an outdoor patio and they offer a selection of sandwiches, burgers, pizza, pasta, panzerotto, and salads. Vegetarian pizzas and pasta are also available.

Ride: Thursday, August 4th: “Le Tour de Port Hope” 9:00am

The originally planned route for this coming Thursday (and also Sunday’s ride) has now been changed. Please note that the ride now starts at The Mill restaurant.

The long ride is about 54 km, and takes in Bickle Hill on the way home. There is a shorter route of about 46 km that avoids that lovely climb! Thanks to Brian Hedney for developing this brand new route for us!

Ride: Sunday July 31st: “Butter Tart Run” 9am

Butter Tarts and Cherry cream cheese danishes are enough to bring us back to Harwood! The Thursday ride goes there and so does this Sunday’s. Since it’s likely to be crazy hot outside, we’ll also re-fill water bottles at the spring.

The distance will be 56km. The shortcut option is only 17km and bypasses the butter tarts as well as the most scenic portion of the ride along Rice Lake. If you want to catch the scenery and the butter tarts and ride a shorter distance, use the comments section below to seek out other like-minded individuals and together you could make a plan of your own.

56km and it’s going to be a hot one, so fill up your bottles with lots of ice. We’ll also re-fill water bottles at the spring in Harwood. If you plan to do a shorter distance, please review the map and make an independent plan accordingly.

This Sunday’s ride will be the same as Thursday’s, but with the added extra of joining together for lunch at The Mill afterward. They’ve got a great outdoor patio that we can use.
