Monday, September 26th: Level 1 ride

CANCELED.     This will be the last Monday evening ride this season! We’ll do as much as we can of the West End Dead End Tour that we can in an hour. Make sure your lights are on your bike!

Tickets for the NHCC Social, Dinner, and AGM on November 9th will be available for sale. $30 each.

Date: Monday, September 26th
Time: 6:00
Meeting Location: park at Westwood and Carlisle
Ride Leader: Dale Pierce

Thursday Sept. 22: Evening Ride, about 25km

The sun sets at 7:08 tonight, so we’re only going to get in about one hour of riding. Looking at the weather forecast it appears that tonight will be the last of the relatively warmish evenings. We won’t be riding particularly fast or very hilly, but just getting out to enjoy a little pedal-time. Make sure you have lights on the front and back of your bike, it’s actually the law!

Start time: 6:00pm
Ride Leader: Anita Macklin
Start location: Westwood Park (Carlisle St.)
Route: Mystery route to be determined

Reminder: ride and pot luck this Saturday!

The post went out extra early so people could plan, but the ride and potluck at Richard and Leigh’s is a few days away! Please let them know if you will be there so they can plan accordingly. Leave a comment below and we’ll tell you where they live.

Date: Saturday, September 24th

Time: 10:00 Ride, potluck to follow

Meeting Location: Richard and Leigh’s

Distance options: out and back on the Lang Hastings Trail (suitable for all levels) or 50km road ride with possible 38km option (suitable for Level 2+ to Level 4)

Thursday, September 22nd: 100km ride (or make it what you want)

Maria Siemiaszko and Lee Wakelin are going out for Lee’s first 100km ride and if anyone wants to come out with us, you are most welcome to! Be it your first 100km as well, or whether you’ve done plenty, be forewarned that the pace will be not be fast! We’ll be taking breaks along the way too. It’ll be a little different from our usual club route as we’re starting in Colborne and heading east and eventually onto Cty Rd 3 in Prince Edward County, which has some pretty views.

If you want to come out for a Level 2 pace ride but don’t have the time or inclination to ride 100km, you can turn around at any point.

Bring snacks, lots of fluids, and some money. Let us know if you’d like to come out so we can let you know if plans change in any way.

Date: Thursday, September 22nd
Time: 10:30
Meeting Location: Keeler Centre, Colborne
Distance: 100km (or whatever) at a Level 2ish pace (or whatever Lee wants to do!)

Wednesday Sept. 21: All Levels Ride & Pub Social from The Mill

Being the third Wednesday of the month means it’s an All Levels ride! This will actually be the final All Levels ride of our official 2016 cycling season, though there will be plenty of other rides to look forward to. As usual, we have one route, one start time. Since daylight hours have shrunken to the point where sunset is at 7:09pm, we’ll just do a simple 60 minute ride. 30 minutes out, turn around and ride 30 minutes back at whatever pace you feel like doing! By the way, friends and family are more than welcome to join us at The Mill after the ride for the social!

Start time: 6:00pm (Ride), and 7:15pm (pub social)
Start location: Parking lot at The Mill
Ride Coordinator: Anita Macklin

RSVP: We need to make sure they reserve enough space for us, so please leave a comment to let us know you’ll be around for the social portion.

Want to help direct the NHCC? The Board of Directors has vacancies

It’s your opportunity to help shape the NHCC! At this year’s AGM we’ll be seeking a few individuals for the Board of Directors who want to work  alongside a great bunch of individuals whose primary goal is to make the NHCC as awesome as it can be. Enthusiasm makes you eligible!

How much time is involved?
We meet 3-5 times a year, and often we talk while on a ride and use email (when appropriate) to exchange ideas. When we meet, we typically establish amongst ourselves the best meeting times that all can attend.

What do Directors do on the Board?
We make decisions about ride leader training, put together the ride calendar, organize off-season activities, plan safety training, organize Membership Night and make decisions about membership fees and policies among other things. The secretary takes notes, the treasurer takes care of finances, and the remaining directors pitch in with planning of all activities.

How many Directors are there?
The Board has the capacity for 7 directors and currently has 6 members. Two board positions will expire at the Annual General Meeting, leaving space for up to three more for 2017. A director’s term is up to three years and a director can run for two terms.

How to nominate someone for the Board

If you feel that either you (self-nomination is permitted) or someone else you know has the spirit to help the NHCC grow and prosper, please complete the nomination form below: (no worries, the only information that we’ll publish is the name of the nominee and who nominated them). Please note that it’s highly recommended that you consult with your nominee prior to ensure they are in agreement.
