Thursday Sept. 19: Ride to Harwood and Back (50k)

We will start this ride from the parking lot at The Mill (despite the fact the map shows it starting at Precious Corners). This will add 8km to the total distance for a total of 50k. Yeah yeah, of course the weather man says there’s a 30% chance of rain…but it also means a 70% likelihood that it won’t, and those are pretty good odds, don’t you think?

Start Time: 10:00am sharp
Start Location: The Mill Parking lot
Route Map: Printable Route map with elevation chart or, if you are equipped with a GPS View the link on Ride with GPS

No ride leader has been designated for this ride. If you plan to ride, be sure to bring a route map with you and use the comment feature here to let others know you’ll be there.

Tuesday Sept. 17 Evening Ride in Port Hope: 6:00pm

The days are shorter and evening rides are definitely cooler which might explain the frozen fingers on the Monday evening ride. :0 Moral of the story: dress warmly! Evening rides are going to start at 6:00 now. Make sure you have lights on your bikes both front and back. And wear layers! (Or have a hot tub on standby)

Start time: 6:00pm
Start location: Port Hope Town Hall
Ride leader: Pam Tate

Monday Sept. 16: Evening ride at 6:30

Not bad, weather wise. Daylight however is shrinking in quantity, thus necessitating the use of lights on both the fronts and backs of our bikes. We’ll just go out for a one hour cruise around town, riding at a nice leisurely pace and enjoying the crisp fall weather.

Start time: 6:30pm
Start location: The Park on Carlisle St. between Westwood and Ewing
Ride leader: Anita Macklin
Lights required at: 6:50pm (Sunset is 7:20)

Come on out! You never know how many more evening rides we will get in before the time changes and our evening rides end for the year. Officially the evening rides will continue until the end of October (weather permitting). The start times however will become earlier as we progress toward that.

Sunday Sept. 15: Morning Ride 10am

There are three distances to choose from so there’s a distance option for everyone. The 36 km route is fairly easy-ish so should be manageable for Level 2 riders who want to give it a try going a bit further than usual. The other distances….well, of course you know there will be a hill or two.

Start time: 10:00am
Start location: The Arena on Furnace St. in Cobourg

The route maps show us starting at Gilmer’s in Port Hope, but we are going to start at the Park on Carlisle at 10:00 instead and bike on over to Port Hope to start the “official” route. This will add about 22km total to each of the routes making the short one 50k and the long route 80k.
