Cap off the Labour Day long weekend by joining us on a fun and challenging NHCC route.
We wont’t lie, there are a couple uphills but these will be balanced off by just as many fun descents.
The earlier start time (4:00) will give us plenty of time to complete the route before darkness and the expected drizzle in the evening.
That said, there will be plenty of rest stops to catch your breath and enjoy the scenery. As always on Monday nights 2/3 no one will be dropped.
There will also be a couple turns that allow the route to be cut shorter should anyone wish or need to head back into town earlier.
Lets have fun!!
Starting Point: Arena on Furnace Street
Time: 4:00 pm
Leader: Roberto/Allan
Route: To County Road 9 and Back
Join Dennis for a nice Labour Day ride. Level 1 rides are always easy, easy with stops for water breaks and chatting with the great group of riders that we get out! Lights must be on at 7:11 by law (half an hour before sunset).

It’s your opportunity to help direct the NHCC! At this year’s AGM we’ll be seeking to fill three vacancies in the Board of Directors. Both Debbie Parks and Maria Siemiaszko will be eligible for re-election into two of the three vacancies, but after 6 years, Anita Macklin’s final term is set to expire in October, creating one new vacancy. Want to work alongside a great bunch of individuals whose primary goal is to make the NHCC as awesome as it can be? Enthusiasm makes you eligible!
Our annual social event of the year, the Annual Meeting & Social Soiree is set to take place on Thursday October 19th, 6:00pm at The Best Western in Cobourg. Tickets will be $30 per person and is open to all members, friends, and family. There will be a great buffet dinner and we’ll take the evening to celebrate cycling with friends both new and old, as well as discuss new directions for next year. Of course we conduct a little official but necessary biz. In the meantime, mark your calendars and pickup your tickets!
How to get tickets:
Downtown Cobourg:
From: Jim Berg in Cobourg
Where: 261 George St., Cobourg
When: Monday – Thursday, 9:00–noon
From your Ride Coordinators (or designated ride leader): starting Monday September 1st. Just come out for your regular weekly ride, bring $30 (cash or cheque payable to the NHCC) and the ride coordinators should have tickets to sell. Ride coordinators are: Maria Siemiaszko, Geoffrey Honey, Roberto Almeida, Mike McLellan, Anita Macklin
Evenings are getting shorter (and colder!). But we can still squeeze in a 49km ride (or decide in Harwood to make it 36km if you wish). The sun sets at 7:48pm meaning we will need lights on our bikes. Since Kennedy Rd. is all under construction, this is a modified route of one of our favourites:
Albert’s Alley, Jibb, Bethel Grove up to Morton, then north toward Rice Lake where we’ll cover Lander Rd. and make our way to Gore’s Landing then along Rice Lake Scenic Dr. You can knock 13 km off the route by turning south again in Harwood making it a 36k ride, or do the full 49km by continuing long the shoreline and turning south at Lilac Valley Rd. instead.
Start time: 6:00pm
Ride Leader: Anita Macklin
Start location: Hamilton Township Offices parking lot (Burnham and Majestic Hills Rd.)
Route Map: Link to route on Ride with GPS
We will head west on Highway #2 to Theater Hill, north to Dale, north on McCelland, west on Bethel Grove/Concession Rd 5, South on Barrie Rd. to Sylvan Rd./Cranberry Rd. and Highway 2 home.
Once we get to the top of “Baby Bickle” it is all down hill to Cobourg

We’re going to stay in town and try to find a few roads that we don’t visit very often! It gets dark early these days so please have lights on your bike. A white light on the front, and red at the back as required by law.

Meeting Location: parking lot behind the Dutch Oven
