Saturday, November 21st: Hike

With the advent of off season activities, the first weekend hike will take place this weekend. The trails on Beagle Club Road will be closed to hikers December 1st for the cross country ski season, so we’ll walk the trails before we come back with our skis! We will hike for a couple of hours or so, starting with the Hog’s Back.

Date: Saturday, November 21st
Time: 1:30
Meeting Place: parking lot on Beagle Club Road, Northumberland Forest
Activity: hike
Distance: approx 10km
Hike Coordinator: Maria Siemiaszko

  1. The Ganaraska Freewheelers are also meeting at the Beagle Club Trailhead at 1:30 PM on Saturday for a pre-AGM hike or mountain bike. One big “happy cycling family” πŸ™‚

  2. That’s too funny! I had planned to lead a hike after my shift at Cycle Transitions Saturday and the Forest was suggested.

It’s been brought to my attention that there was a lot of poison ivy in the Forest this year so although the leaves have dropped off, the stems still have oil in them and hikers would be well advised to take precautions such as wearing gaitors if you have them or watching how you handle foot wear and clothing afterwards. The joys and reality of being over run with “Northumberland’s Official Flower”. πŸ™‚

  3. The gutters are clean and other garden chores completed so it looks like I can take on the Hogback Challenge (walking, not running…sorry Tara). See you all on Saturday.
