Sunday Snowshoe (Sunday January 25th)

The Pine Ridge Hiking Club has a snowshoe hike planned for this Sunday from Maria’s house and if any NHCC members would like to join in, you are welcome to. If there isn’t enough snow for snowshoes, we’ll hike instead, in which case if you have icers and/or hiking poles it may be a good idea to bring them along.

Date: Sunday, January 25th
Time: meet to car pool at either the Home Hardware parking lot, Toronto Road in Port Hope by 9:15 or 45/401 car pool lot in Cobourg by 9:30
Hike Leader: Maria Siemiaszko

Hike tonight, Cancelled: It’s just too insanely cold and windy out there, which just takes all the fun out of hiking. Sorry folks—See you all next time!

Wednesday January 7: Hike in Port Hope

CANCELLED: Too darned cold out there (Sorry)!
So what if it’s going to be supremely cold, we can still hike, no? Gather your warmest socks and wear lots of layers. We’ll adjust the length of the hike according the chill-factor of those who are hiking. And of course we’ll prepare to head into a local establishment for some hot chocolate or tea.

Time: 6:00pm
Location: Port Hope Town Hall parking lot
Hike leader: Pamela Tate

Please RSVP by leaving a comment so we don’t stand in the parking lot shivering too long, wondering who might be coming. 🙂

Whitby Hike and Movie (Wild): Saturday Jan. 10

There are several members who are interested in seeing the movie Wild, based on a true story of a woman who decided to hike more than 1000 miles of the Pacific Coast Trail. If it is still playing at the Whitby Landmark Theatre this weekend, we’ll carpool over to Whitby for a hike along the Waterfront trail then catch a late afternoon showing. If you’d like to join us, please let us know so we can meet up with you! If there is anyone from Port Hope that wants to go, we can meet you at the car pool lot on Toronto Road.

Date: Saturday, January 10th
Meeting Time Car Pool Lot 45/401: 12:45
Meeting Time Car Pool Lot Toronto Road Port Hope: 1:00 (Please note we won’t stop in Port Hope unless we know there will be someone waiting there so RSVP!)
Hike Leader: Maria Siemiaszko
