With the shorter days and colder mornings, some folks might appreciate a slightly later start time for the morning hikes, so the Tuesday morning hikes will move to 9:30. Meet in the parking lot at Westwood and Burnham (where LaClerq’s Butcher shop is). The hike will head up to New Amherst, then down to the lake in the Pebble Beach area. Hikers are advised to wear footwear appropriate for muddy and sandy conditions. It almost goes without saying that a social coffee time at Harden Huyse will follow this nice walk! Guests are more than welcome, but please bring a signed waiver. Comment below if you plan to attend.
Date: Tuesday, November 22nd
Time: 9:30 (note the change in start time!)
Meeting Location: plaza parking lot southwest corner of Westwood and Burnham

Evening Hike & Beer this coming Wed. November 23, 6:00pm
If the forecast is right it will start to feel winteresque by the time next Wednesday rolls around. So bundle up and meet us in the Port Hope Town Hall parking lot for a casual evening hike. We see cool stuff, we yak and talk about all kinds of inspirational topics, and eventually end up in some local establishment for a beer or hot chocolate or if you’re hungry, a few wings.
It’s off-season in the NHCC! That means we’ll do this every Wednesday evening. We like to do our evening urban hikes in Port Hope because there are plenty of hills, trails, interesting lanes & alleys, and cool architecture along the way. Not to mention all the beautiful Christmas lights to see. Although we’ll be walking, you’ll likely get your heart rate up and burn off some calories, pre-justifying that beer that follows.
Got questions? Leave us a comment. Planning to join the walk? Let us know!
By the way, you don’t need to be a member and there’s no fee to participate. But if you are not a member we ask that you bring a signed waiver with you (for insurance reasons).
Start time: 6:00pm
Start location: Port Hope Town Hall parking lot
Hike leaders: Anita Macklin and Randy Albon

Recap of the 2016 NHCC Annual Meeting and Social
It was a great evening at the Annual Meeting & Social. Dinner was yummy as always and we did a few administrative things as we typically do at these yearly meetings.
We want to convey a very heartfelt thank-you to both Randy Albon and David Pollack who have completed their terms as directors with the NHCC Board of Directors. Randy was one of the founding members of the NHCC, it’s inaugural President, and a constant supporter since the Club’s inception in 2010. I hope everyone will share in the recognition that without his inspiration and expertise in developing the Club from the ground up, there would simply have been no NHCC. David has been a dedicated and wise Treasurer who has kept us on track financially and advises us in aspects of board governance, all so we can do what we really want to do, which is ride our bikes! Although their official roles have ended, we sure hope to continue seeing them on bike rides, hikes and other club activities.
And with that, we subsequently elected three new board members to fill all vacancies in the Board. Please welcome your new directors, Roberto Almeida, Dennis Benson, and Shabbir Maju. We’re looking forward to working together with our three fabulous new directors and planning ahead for a great year ahead!

Sunday, November 6th: afternoon hike
It’s back to the Northumberland Forest on Sunday afternoon. The Beagle Club Trails will be closed to all activites except cross country skiing starting in December so we’ll get some more hikes in there beforehand, and it’s a good refresher for remembering the trails when the snow comes. Bring fluids and a snack. and once again we can figure out where we want to go once we meet. Plan to be out for a couple of hours or so, but if someone wants to hike a shorter distance, it’s possible to start with a loop that’ll bring us back to the lot to drop them off.
Date: Sunday, November 6th
Start Time: 1:00
Meeting Location: parking lot at Beagle Club Trail
