EASY RIDE: Monday June 4, 7:00pm (parking lot at St. Mary’s School)

After the big ride that all the Ride for Heart-ers did (without the rain), and the 60k that the Butter Tart people did (with the rain for part of it), an easy ride will be a welcome ride. We’ll start from a new location for a change—the parking lot at St. Mary’s School. Meet in the northern parking lot at the school and we’ll head out onto the Danforth for some rolling hills (but nothing crazy, don’t worry)

If you don’t know what the Ride for Heart is, take a look here a the Video from CTV
And here’s a few pics we rounded up:

Start time: 7:00pm
Location: The parking lot at St. Mary’s School
Ride Leader: Paul Mills and Anita Macklin
Route: To be determined

Please let us know if you’re coming so we can anticipate numbers and develop a safe, (and fun too) route plan.

We will place the order on June 15 which should ensure deliver by the end of July.

If you want a jersey, Anita will accept accept either cash or cheque (payable to the Northumberland Hills Cycling Club). Please put your payment inside of a sealed envelope with your name and size indicated. (It helps to keep it all organized)

Ride: Sunday June 3: 56km from the Mill (10am)

It’s the “Butter Tart Run” ride this Sunday. 56k in total, but if you really don’t want one of those yummy butter tarts, you could cut it short and just go an easy 17k. (But do you really want to miss out?) The Harwood store is our ultimate destination enroute, and you can also re-load your water bottles down near the waterfront. This is a fun ride, not to extremely terribly difficult, despite the hills that we just can’t avoid.

We will try the same 3-group approach that we’ve been trying lately: Scenic/Leisurely Group, the Regular Group, and the Non-stop Group.

Please print out the route map and bring it with you if you are planning to ride.

Start time: 10:00am
Start location: The Mill Parking lot.
Route map and directions: The “Butter Tart Run” 56 km route map here

Please comment below if you are coming, and maybe even indicate which group you might want to try riding with.

SPECIAL BIKE WEEK EVENT: Bike Club Night with the NHCC (Thursday May 31)

This Thursday Night is Bike Club Night with the NHCC as part of Bike Week. This is an official club tryout night where non-members can come on out and hear a bit about the NHCC, ask questions, and best of all, give it a try by coming out with us on a trial ride. We’ll take it easy on folks and just stay in town, go at an easy pace allowing for conversation and fun. Let’s try and have as many of our club members out in our cool blue jerseys and show people why we were voted the Best Cycling Club in Eastern Canada!

We’ll start out with a little introduction, do the necessary paperwork, have a little safety talk and then head out at 7:00.

Start Time: 6:30pm
Place: Donegan Park

Yep, that will be our third evening ride this week. How awesome is that?!

EASY RIDE: Wednesday May 30, 7:00pm

It was a stellar turnout, with 25 people on our Monday ride. Let’s see if we can get that again on this Wednesday. We’ll meet at the Park on Carlisle Ave. and tour around town. Nice and easy. And we do mean Eeeeeeaaaasy! So, are you coming?

Start time: 7:00pm
Location: The park on Carlisle Ave. between Ewing and Westwood
Ride Leader: To be determined.
Route: To be determined.

It really helps us out if you comment below to say you’re coming. That way we can anticipate the size of the group and perhaps plan ahead whether or not we’ll need to break the group up into smaller ones.

EASY RIDE: Monday May 28, 7:00pm (The Mill parking lot)

Easy Ride! We will add a little “country” this time and go out to Cornish Hollow and Racetrack Rd. No crazy hills, just slight inclines.

By the way, Monday is “Ride your Bike to Work” day in Cobourg, so we might even see a few more cyclists on the road on Monday! It’s also Ride Your Bike to School day.

Start time: 7:00pm
Location: The Mill restaurant parking lot
Ride Leader: Anita Macklin
Route: To be determined

The weather is forecasting thunder storms & rain, but we know it’s a lie. We’ve all got browning lawns and sprinklers going to prove it. So, let’s hope it’s dry for the ride!
