Prince Edward Gran Fondo Ride- September 8th
The County Gran Fondo is a beautifully scenic ride through the bucolic, vineyard studded scenery of Prince Edward County, Ontario. Choose from 50 km, 100 and 150 km distances and enjoy unparalleled support, the camaraderie of cyclists and après-ride festivities sure to please. Starting from Isaiah Tubbs on West Lake, you will cruise through Sandbanks Provincial Park, past vineyards that have made the county famous, visit villages including Milford, Picton & Wellington, and ride quiet roads in between.
Haven’t been to the county yet? Travel & Leisure recently described Prince Edward County as one of the top places to travel to in the world in their annual list: ‘Cross Montauk, NY, with California’s Napa Valley circa 1970, and you get Prince Edward County, a tiny wine-producing region that’s becoming a haven for creative types’. Cyclists have long known that this region is a mecca for road cycling.

Bike Up Northumberland! Saturday, September 15th
Media release- BIke Up Northumberland! 2018 – FinalBike Up Northumberland Poster 2018 (1). Bike Up Northumberland! is returning for the 4th year. This is a suppported charity bike ride with 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100km options raising money for life saving equipment for our local Cobourg and Campbellford hospitals. Our club has been closely involved since the beginning of this event with many members participating in the ride, working with Cycle Transitions in ensuring bikes are ride-ready, or volunteering as sweeps or manning the refreshment stations. David Pollack was co chair for the first year and Randy Albon succeeded him as co chair for the following two years.
One of our members, Liz Pollack will be riding on the Way to Go CMH team in memory of David. She’s participating in the 10km ride. If you are not riding, please support her or any participants raising money for our local hospitals.
Sign up today! Registrants raising $300 or more will receive an event jersey. Check out the Bike Up Northumberland website or facebook page for more information.
Call for Volunteers
I am also putting forth a call for volunteers for those not riding or any family and friends who would like to help out. This event is not possible without the fantastic support of those handing out refreshments and cheering on the riders, and the sweeps for each ride distance who make sure that everyone makes it back and receives medical or mechanical aid if required. If you can help please comment below or send an email to nhcycling2010@gmail.com.
Sunday, August 26th: Get Out of Town Ride
We’re heading out of Northumberland County to explore new frontiers! Join us in Bath Ontario to ride some of the Lennox and Addington routes. There is something for every level, from enjoying the flat bike lane on Loyalist Parkway right beside the water, to a 71km route that also heads up to Napanee then to Hay Bay. There are also 109km and 76km options that we can discuss. This is Route D on the L&A County Trails guide at www.CountyTrails.com. There won’t be assigned ride leaders but it would be a huge help to know who plans to ride so that a) we know we are supposed to expect you and will watch for you in case you get a little lost or delayed getting there, and b) know that everyone has someone to ride with and knows where they are going.
The Bath Sunday Market will also be in full swing in the park from 9:30 to 2:00. Bath also hosts a grocery store and a couple of restaurants so there are opportunities to refuel.
We’ll meet north of the public washrooms in Bath Centennial Park.
Date: Sunday, August 26th
Start Time: 10:00
Meeting Location: 341 Main Street, Bath (aka #33, Loyalist Parkway) Centennial Park (South), north side of the public washrooms
