BMC Road Bike (Womens specific design) for sale

bmc-bike
If anyone is interested, a woman who is new to the Port Hope area has contacted the NHCC to let us know she wants to sell a road bike she purchased but “never used”, so it’s like new. It’s a BMC “Sparkle” which is a woman specific design purchased in 2013 and the owner is 5’1″ (so likely a small frame). She also has all the following accessories (and their original prices from the receipt) to accompany the bike:

  • BMC “Sparkle” (orig. $1,000)
  • Gloves (orig. $49)
  • Giro helmet (orig. $130)
  • Giro shoes (orig. $120)
  • LOOK Keo 2 pedals (orig. $150)
  • Garmin 500 (orig. $319)

It’s a great opportunity for someone looking to get into a quality road bike for a great price! She’s got the original receipt in which she paid $2,054 for the lot and is looking for $1000 or best offer. She said she might be willing to sell off separately.

100k Ride to Presqu’ile and Back! Sunday Sept. 4

It’s here! The 100k ride to Presqu’ile and back. It sounds hard, but not as hard as you think. It’s mostly flat-ish and if you take your time, you can do it in as little as 4 hours or as many as 6. The trick is to pace yourself and go at an easy but sustainable pace.

If you aren’t feeling up to the whole 100k you can turn around in Colborne for a 50k ride, or at any other point in order to make the distance as long as you wish. To make it a true 100k you need to ride all the way down to the lighthouse in Presqu’ile Park.

It’s a big distance, so plan to bring a couple of snack baggies of trail mix, dried fruit, or a few granola bars for along the way. You could plan to make a stop in Colborne for drinks and snacks if necessary.

Some people will be doing their first 100k ride ever…it would be nice for them to know who else is riding so they know they won’t be alone. Please leave a comment to let others know you plan to ride and whether you are anticipating a slow, medium or fast pace.

Start time: 9am
Start location: The arena on Furnace St.
Route map:
Not required (Waterfront Trail Eastbound)

Ride leader: There will be no designated ride leader for this ride. Everyone will meet at the arena at 9 and head out together, but expect to break off into smaller groups according to pace & ability.

FYI: Three of us (Randy, Maria, and Anita) will already be in the Brighton beforehand and plan to meet up with participants at or near the park entrance around noon. The three of us will be on loaded touring bikes and riding at a slow pace, so if anyone wishes to ride back with us you can expect sloooooow and easy!

Wednesday, August 31st: afternoon ride

Anyone up for an early afternoon ride on Wednesday? I have a couple of hours to kill before the Bike Up meeting and what better way to do that than a bike ride? Maybe Cornish Hollow or some variation? We can decide once we see who can make it and what they’d like to do.
Date: Wednesday, August 31st
Time: 12:30
Meeting Location: arena parking lot on Furnace Street
Ride Leader: Maria Siemiaszko

Tuesday, August 30th: Level 2 Ride

Date: Tuesday, August 30th
Time: 6:00
Meeting Location: park at Westwood and Carlisle

Ride Leader: Roberto Almeida
