However, we are happy to see High Visibility Clothing on our rides. We welcome all manner of safe cycling dress.

It is very important to have your tires at the right inflation so people with floor pumps who are driving to the rides, please bring them along. We will have “Sweeps” (a ‘cheer from the rear’ person who stays with the end of the line and keeps them safe and happy) on ALL our rides! If you can volunteer to Sweep for these rides, please chime in below in the comment section.

Our rides will begin with the basic safety rules for the club and some nifty riding tips. First rides, we will focus on hand signals, ABC bike check, and a quick bit on riding in a group. Tell us if you plan to ride either night in the comment section so we can keep an eye out for you.

Sunday May 6: Special Event! Anniversary Ride & Burgers

The NHCC is celebrating seven years old! To mark the occasion we are having a Welcome/Anniversary Ride for all NHCC members followed by a BBQ afterward at Randy and Anita’s home on Smylie Rd. It’ll be a simple ride, out-and-back style (for a total of 90 minutes). This style of ride means that everyone rides at their own pace and everyone finishes at the same time. The NHCC will provide complimentary post-ride hamburgers (either beef or veggie) and other tasty things to enjoy while we lollygag around the yard and deck, hopefully enjoying some sunshine and time with friends both old and new. All members are welcome! If you can’t make it for the ride, you are welcome to come for the Burgers & Social portion that starts at noon.

The route will be suitable for all levels, from Level 1 to Level 4.

Date: Sunday May 6, 2018

Cycle Transitions is looking for Volunteers

Cycle Transitions logo

Cycle Transitions is excited about re-opening for business again! It’s been seven and a half months since they closed the doors for the last time on D’Arcy St. Their new facility at 390 King St. W. in Cobourg looks great!

They need your help and are looking for volunteers.  Will you consider helping out? They will train you and always schedule you with a “senior” or mentor mechanic. If you have any mechanical inclination, you’ll learn in no time at all. And it’s not all work, there’s lots of socializing and discussing the issues of the day.

Their hours of operation are as follows: Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6:30 to 9:00 pm, as well as Saturday mornings.

If you’re interested in checking out this volunteering possibility, please send a message to cycletransitions@gmail.com .

Cost is S100 per person and the location will be determined once we know how many participants we need to accommodate.

Please note that May 13th is Mothers’ Day in case that creates a conflict for you. If interested, please respond on this post.
