Thurs. Sept. 28: Mixed Levels ride, then celebrate “Cycle Transitions” at 7:00

This is the last official evening ride of the season! And to encourage as many as possible to participate, we are making it one that stronger level 2s can handle as well as Level 3 and 4s who can enjoy this final opportunity for a warm evening ride. Afterward, bring along some cash and join the wonderful people who are celebrating Cycle Transitions 5th Anniversary at the Cat “N Fiddle restaurant that starts at 7:00pm.

Route Description:
Heading up Ontario St., then Cornish Hollow to Smylie, north on Burnham, Right on Wallace Jibb, Returning via Dejong, Ferguson, Racetrack, then down Division. Route map: 32km Route map link here

Note: There will be no ride leader for this ride. Instead, participants will be encouraged to ride in smaller groups according to desired pace.

Monday, September 25th: Level 1 ride

With the summer like weather continuing, we’ll try to get another ice cream run in. If Harbourview Delights is still open we can finish off the ride with a cool treat so bring some money just in case.

Tuesday, September 19th: Level 2 ride

Pam will lead this week’s ride which begins at King’s Field at the west end of Port Hope. It’ll be a slightly challenging loop out along Lakeshore to Willow Beach, up to the 4th Line, across #10 and back to the start point via Sylvan Glen and Victoria. Start time is 5:45 due to darkness falling earlier (don’t forget your lights)

Monday, September 18th: Level 1 ride

Since the evenings are getting shorter we’ll start at 5:30 so we can get some decent riding time in. I realize it’s tough for some people to get there so soon after work, but if you really would like to get a ride in, however short, please leave a comment saying so and we’ll loop back at 6:00 to pick you up.

Cycle Transition Anniversary Celebration: Thursday, September 28th

Cycle Transitions logoCycle Transitions got it’s start five years ago on September 8th, 2012. We’ve had a great run to this point and we’re looking forward to the next! To help celebrate, we’re inviting all past and present members as well as supporters to a “pub night” at the Cat and Fiddle (Covert Street, Cobourg) on Thursday, September 28th starting at 7 pm. Please join us, have a bite to eat and/or something to drink, and share your stories of CT.

** Please note, food and drink will be available and can be paid with CASH ONLY (no credit or debit cards are being accepted at the Cat and Fiddle presently)**

For those participating in the Level 4 ride that evening, drop in whenever you’re done riding as our rides will be finishing up pretty early by the end of the month anyway.

The thunderstorms last week postponed our ride but this Monday’s weather looks more promising so we’ll give it another go.

Joint Ride with the Ganaraska Freewheelers: Saturday Sept. 16

The Ganaraska Freewheelers are hosting a joint ride with the NHCC on Saturday September 16th starting at Golden Beach Resort in Harwood. There are choices to shorten the route to either 20, 30, 40km, by choosing interconnecting roads along the route, or doing the full 51km. The restaurant is open for lunch or snacks afterward if you wish to partake. All you’ll need to do is let the ride leader know at the beginning of the ride so that the restaurant staff can be informed as to numbers.

CANCELED: Monday, September 4th: Level 1 ride

Join Dennis for a nice Labour Day ride. Level 1 rides are always easy, easy with stops for water breaks and chatting with the great group of riders that we get out! Lights must be on at 7:11 by law (half an hour before sunset).
This is also a chance to get your Annual Meeting tickets. The AM takes place Thursday, October 19th at the Best Western and is a fun evening. Cost is $30 per person and spouses and friends are welcome.

It’s your opportunity to help direct the NHCC! At this year’s AGM we’ll be seeking to fill three vacancies in the Board of Directors. Both Debbie Parks and Maria Siemiaszko will be eligible for re-election into two of the three vacancies, but after 6 years, Anita Macklin’s final term is set to expire in October, creating one new vacancy. Want to work alongside a great bunch of individuals whose primary goal is to make the NHCC as awesome as it can be? Enthusiasm makes you eligible!
