Level 4 Rides: Tuesday May 22 & Thursday May 24

We’ve got a 44 and a 46k ride going this week. The sun is setting later and later, so we’re able to squeeze in longer rides in the evening! We new start locations for each of these rides, so take note of those.

ALL LEVELS RIDE & Social: Wednesday May 23

Its the first of our once-monthly All Levels Ride and Social (Cobourg)! So, what does that even mean? All Levels Rides are a monthly opportunity for all NHCC members to ride together, with the option to try out one of the other levels on an out-and-back route where nobody gets lost.

There will be 4 designated pace-setters among the group, riding at each of the NHCC defined Levels (1-4). Just pick the level you want to try, and follow that pace setter to see what riding at that level really feels like. If you change your mind mid-ride, no problem, just slow down and wait for a group that’s riding at the speed you like. The All Levels Ride is ideal if you think you’d like to feel what the other levels are like without committing.

It’s easy: We ride for 45 minutes (or less depending on your Level) then turn around and head back the same way you went. This ensures everyone finishes at the same time for the optional social part where we head indoors for drinks, wings, social time and meeting others.

Time: 6:30–8:00pm (ride) 8:00-9:30pm (social)
Start location: The parking lot at Franks Pasta and Grill

Sunday, May 20th: Lang Hastings Trail

If anyone wants to get out for a flat ride on Sunday, any level can come out for a ride on the Lang Hastings Trail. This is a there and back ride on the trail so there are no leaders and you ride out as far as you want then turn back. If you’d like to make Peterborough your destination, the distance is about 32 km one way for a 64 or so km ride. Bring fluids and some food, and money if you want to stop at the Tim Hortons for those who go the distance. Ice cream will likely also be available in Hastings or at Dreamland Resort. The riding surface is crushed limestone which is better suited for wider tires but doable on most bikes.

Start Time: 11:00
Ride Organizer: Maria Siemiaszko
Start Location: parking lot just south of the Lang Hastings Trail off of Asphodel 7th (which is west of Park Lane, on the left)

Friday May 18: Floater Ride at 10am

We’ll start in Port Hope, head out along the Lakeshore for a ride, distance to be determined as we go. This is a mixed level ride so we generally have a little discussion at the start of the ride to establish how fast and how far people want to go. Better yet, leave a comment to let Randy and others know you are riding.

Ride Leader: Randy Albon
Level of difficulty: Mixed Levels

We will do a loop through the peaceful rural beauty just north of the town of Port Hope. I’m not going to lie, there will be a few hills but nothing you can’t handle. We will go at a slow and steady pace, make a few stops along the way and nobody, but nobody will be left behind. Think of this as your “before” ride out of Sylvan Glen because we will do this same loop again later in the season so that you can see how much stronger you are becoming! Bring your sense of adventure and be prepared to feel really good about riding your bike with a nice gang of people who know how to have a good time.
