ALL THE WHEELY FUN CLUB NEWS!

Open Call for Ride Leaders for 2017

Here ya go, your opportunity to make a difference! The strength and variety of our NHCC ride schedule is 100% reliant on volunteers. We are looking to for ride leaders for the 2017 cycling season. More ride leaders means more variety and more rides for everyone. What we really want to establish is a pool of ride leaders for each of the given levels that we can call upon to make sure that all the rides are covered.

You don’t need to be a super-fit cycling phenom. What makes you qualified? Heck, just a willingness to help out a little, and have a little safety training behind you (kinda essential, and which we’ll provide). Even if you can lead just an occasional ride here and there, we’d be thrilled. The proposed ride schedule for 2017 is as follows:

Monday evenings: Level 1
Tuesday evenings: Level 2
Wednesday evenings: Level 3
Thursday evenings: Level 4
Sunday mornings: Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4
Weekday and other rides: scheduled based on ride leader availability. Just let us know what you want!

You don’t need to be all skilled and confident yet—we’ll get you there! It’s not a big deal to be a ride leader: you just think about a route in advance then lead the way!

So, how about it? There’s no obligation at this point, we’re just seeking an expression of interest on your part!

Toronto International Bicycle Show, March 3-5, 2017

Toronto International Bike Show logo The Toronto International Bicycle Show is this weekend! It’s that time of year, when we all start to think a little (or a lot) about getting the bike out, checking it all over and getting it ready to ride. Maybe you wanna pick up another bike to add to your growing stash of bikes! Hey, there are bargains to be had at the Bike Show and there are usually a few people heading to it and would be happy to travel together so if you think you might go, leave a comment and see if anyone’s interested in carpooling.

Date: Friday, February 17th

Meeting Location: parking lot at Beagle Cub
Ski Organizer: Maria Siemiaszko

Sunday, February 12th: cross country ski

There should be plenty of nice new snow in the forest today! This afternoon’s ski doesn’t have a designated ski organizer so it’s up to everyone who shows up to figure out where they want to ski (which is pretty much what we do all the time anyway). Since without an organizer there is no guarantee that anyone will be there, please comment below if you plan to come out so that others will know that someone will be there for them to ski with, otherwise they may not come out.
Date: Sunday, February 12th
Time: 1:00
Meeting Location: parking lot at Beagle Club
Organizer: none – please respond below if you are coming
