ALL THE WHEELY FUN CLUB NEWS!

EASY RIDE: Monday July 2nd, 7:00pm

This easy ride is…..well, not quite as “easy” as some of the others we’ve done. But we’ve got long days right now and they won’t last forever, so we are making the most of it. 32 km with a few small-ish hills. (Okay, maybe one steep one) But the “Easy Riding” crowd seems to be wanting a few more challenges, so we’re doing it! If you take the shorter 24km route you’ll miss out on those little hills……just sayin.

It’s Stage 2 of the Tour de Northumberland Hills and doing this ride will qualify for the 20.7 km stage

Start time: 7:00pm
Location: Cobourg Memorial Rink and Recreation Centre
Route Map: “Easy Route 2” 24 or 32 km route map here
Ride Leader: Volunteer Needed

Please comment below to say you’re coming to the ride.

Sunday July 1st Ride: “Grafton East” (31km 36km 51km or 75km) *New Start time

**Don’t forget that the new REGULAR start time is 9:00am**

It’s July! That means that our starting time is moving a little earlier in the morning to escape a bit of the summer heat. It will now be 9:00am instead of 10:00 am until September 1st. Soooooo…. don’t be showing up at the start point for 10, wondering where everyone is  🙂

Like Thursday’s ride, if you want to do 75km, you’ll start earlier than everyone else, riding from Cobourg to the start point in Grafton. (That will mean 8:20 for the 75km route.)

Start time: 9:00am (regular group) or 8:20 (75km group)
Start location: Grafton Arena on Hwy 2 (Donegan Park for the 75k group)
Route Map: “Grafton East” route map here

Pack Leader (Non-stoppers): Need a volunteer
Pack Leader #1 (Regular group): Need a volunteer
Pack Leader #2 (Regular group) (if needed): Need a volunteer
Pack Leader (Scenic group): Need a volunteer

The “Tour de Northumberland Hills” is starting!
By the way, the Tour de France starts on Saturday, which means that Sunday is Stage 1 of the “Tour de Northumberland Hills” too. So, if you ride the required 19.8 km or more you can enter your distance on the spreadsheet and be entered for the weekly draw prize! The regular club rides do count you know!

Please indicate if you are planning to ride and where you will start from so others can plan too. Also, please mention if you can be a pack leader.

Thursday June 28 Ride: “Grafton East” (31km 36km 51km or 75km)

There’s a distance for everyone on this ride. If you want to do 75km though, you’ll start earlier than everyone else, riding from Cobourg to the start point in Grafton. The weather promises 28° and sunshine with just a little cloud. Should be a great day for a ride. We’ll need pack leaders for Thursday, so how ’bout it? Let’s try to see some new faces taking on that role  🙂

Start time: 10:00am (regular group) or 9:20 (75km group)
Start location: Grafton Arena on Hwy 2 (Donegan Park for the 75k group)

NEW RIDE in Port Hope! Tuesday June 26th Easy Ride (7:00)

We’re trying something new on a three week trial basis! A Tuesday night easy ride in Port Hope. This is a *new* ride for the NHCC, and is in addition to all of our other rides. This ride will be the same in format as our Monday/Wednesday night easy rides, the only difference being that it will be in Port Hope. If the trial basis goes well, we will incorporate it into our regular schedule.

Start time: 7:00 pm
Start location: Port Hope, Gilmer’s Home Hardware
Ride leader: George Hussey

Since it’s a new ride, please take a moment to comment below whether or not you plan to ride so that George can anticipate numbers. Thanks folks!

EASY RIDE: Monday June 25, 7:00pm

Weather forecast: 20° and windy. So it won’t be hot, but it will be windy. We’ll need a ride leader for this one. Anyone want to take that on? Just make a comment below. And onn another note:

The 100km Presqu’ile Ride Pre-notice. For those who don’t know, sometime in August or September we do a club ride from Cobourg to the lighthouse at Presqu’ile and back. It’s a 100km ride and almost all flat. It’s easy enough riding that it’s doable for all members of the club including new members. It’s a goal to work towards—so there’s an incentive to put in some mileage and try and stretch out the distance on some longer rides.

Start time: 7:00pm
Location: Cobourg Memorial Rink and Recreation Centre
Route Map: “Route 1” 23km with optional 5km or 7km extensions

EASY RIDE: Wednesday June 27, 7:00pm

The days are good and long at this time of the year, so we should take advantage and do a little extra distance. Come on out! We will go easy on you so don’t worry about the added distance. It will only be about 3-5 km more than usual and we are already doing about 22 km on the evening rides.

Start time: 7:00pm
Location: Cobourg Memorial Rink and Recreation Centre
Route Map: “Easy Route 2” 24 or 32 km route map here

Please comment below to say you’re coming to the ride.
