Open Call for Ride Leaders
The strength of the NHCC ride program relies on the commitment of volunteers and we’d really like some more help. We are looking to expand our pool of ride leaders in order to continue offering the quantity and choice of rides the NHCC currently enjoys. Even if you can just be available occasionally, it sure helps to share the load.
You don’t need to be a super-fit cyclist, just willing to pitch in a little. In order to be a ride leader, we ask that:
- You ride at the front of the group to set the pace (except for Level 4 which has no maximum pace)
- You are able to navigate using Ride With GPS or a printed map
- You are familiar with safety protocols, or have the willingness to learn!
With our Ride with GPS club membership and turn by turn instructions it can be super easy to navigate. We’ll show you how if you haven’t figured it out. If you are a fairly regular participant in any of the Club rides please consider helping out.
FYI, these are the weekly scheduled rides to consider volunteering for:
Monday evenings: Level 1, Level 3
Tuesday evenings: Level 2, Level 4
Wednesday evenings: Level 1, Level 3
Thursday evenings: Level 2, Level 4
Sunday or Saturday mornings: any level
Friday mornings: Mixed Levels
Just send off a quick email to Debbie and let her know you can help president@northumberlandhills cyclingclub.com and we’ll connect you up with the ride coordinator who will get you ready to go!
A great big thank you!

ALL LEVELS RIDE & SOCIAL: Wednesday, June 19th
It’s the third Wednesday of the month already and it’s time for our once-monthly All Levels Ride and Social! All Levels Rides are a monthly opportunity for all NHCC members to ride together, with the option to try out one of the other levels on an out-and-back route where nobody gets lost.
There will be 4 designated pace-setters among the group, riding at each of the NHCC defined Levels (1-4). Just pick the level you want to try, and follow that pace setter to see what riding at that level really feels like. If you change your mind mid-ride, no problem, just slow down and wait for a group that’s riding at the speed you like. The All Levels Ride is ideal if you think you’d like to feel what the other levels are like without committing.
We ride for 45 minutes (or less depending on your Level) then turn around and head back the same way you went. Dennis will lead the Level one riders. Everyone should finish around the same time for the optional social part where we head indoors for drinks, wings, social time and meeting others.
Time: 6:30–8:00pm (ride) 8:00-9:30pm (social)
