Just like the Thursday ride—Heading out to Wicklow Beach and beyond then returning. Easy riding, so it’s a good opportunity to do some longer distance. The map shows about 37km but if you go into Colborne and back,  you’ll get about 55km. Or if you’re really enthusiastic, stretch it all the way out to Brighton. Please make sure you print out a map and bring it with you if you need it.

Several club members will be away this weekend, so it might be smaller numbers on this ride. It also means that many of the “usual” pack leaders will be away, so it’s time to see some new folks step in to take on that role! Wanna volunteer, anyone?

The last few rides have had some hill climbing, so perhaps we’ll make this one a nice easy flat-ish route. Heading out to Wicklow Beach and beyond then returning. Easy stuff and you can go as far or as short as you want. If you do only what’s on the map, you’ll cover about 37km. It’s easy to extend the route and go all the way into Colborne and back, the benefit being that you can grab a drink at the store. (totalling about 55km) Don’t let that distance scare you—it’s easy riding!

We did a few hills on the last ride and it was a lot of fun. Baby hills, but they still qualify. Not sure where this ride will go…..why not make a comment and mention whether you want to do a few more hills, or go further & faster, or do a little in-town riding?

So, the last evening ride didn’t happen because of the nasty weather on the radar, the weather warning etc. and not a single drop of rain fell—so this ride is going to happen no matter what! We have a new starting location for this ride, the Arena on Furnace St.  The route will take in a little in-town riding and then head up north through Cornish Hollow Rd. Be sure to bring an ice-cold drink with you, it’s going to be hot!

Although not indicated on the map, there are plenty of opportunities for shortening this route as desired. Consistent with the Monday/Wednesday rides we will send people out in packs of 6–8 people. The first pack will be the Non-stoppers, the last pack will be Scenic-Leisurely, and the packs in the middle will be Regular Groups.

We’ll need pack leaders—If you are able to keep a reasonably consistent pace and maintain a safe distance from the pack in front, feel free to volunteer to be a pack leader. We’ll need about 4. (One for Non-stoppers, one for Leisurely and the others for Regular groups)

This week as a trial, we’re going to try a new start time for the Thursday ride. We’ll leave at 3:30 and ride the Shelter Valley route, starting and ending at St. Mary’s School. The entire route would be 50k, but there are options for making it shorter if necessary.

Note that the map indicates we start at Donegan Park, but we will start at St. Mary’s School and modify the route accordingly.

School should be out by that time, but there are events happening at the school. Therefore, we will park in the south parking lot, leave the car behind and ride your bike up to the North parking lot where we will depart.
