Tonight is the second night of the Cycling Safety course for those who have enrolled in the course. We are anticipating getting on the bikes for the practical portion where we’ll cover some bike handling skills. Come prepared, with your bicycles and helmets!

Wedesday Port Hope Ride: May 28th
This time we’ll depart from the parking lot of the Winchester Arms again and head out for a relatively easy ride, about 25 or 30km – no one will be left behind! The 40% chance of showers leaves a 60% chance that it won’t rain on us!

Level 2 Wed. May 28 “Baltimore and Back”
This route is 20k long. It has a few more hills than last week ride but you are all stronger cyclists compared to three weeks ago. It’s a no-drop ride, we work together and support each other. Notes: Helmets are mandatory. Please bring your membership card with you. Start Time: 6:30pm

Monday May 26th: Level 1 ride
This week we are starting in a new location. The Cycle Transitions parking lot is located on D’Arcy St., behind the building. Enter by travelling south on D’Arcy. It’s right across the street from the Cobourg Community Centre.

Volunteers needed for Bike Week, June 1-8
Bike Week is scheduled to take place from June 1-8 and the NHCC is always a big supporter. We are looking for some volunteers to cover a number of our commitments including:
- Leading 30 minute short Family Bike Rides (June 1st)
- Manning our NHCC information booth on (June 1st)
- Leading longer Community Bike Rides at other times during the week
- Other events too!
There are also other events taking place could certainly benefit from an extra hand. If you are able to volunteer your time for some activities, please email us and we’ll put you to great use!
Sunday, May 25th: Ride to Bewdley and Back
23C and Sunshine….what more could we ask for? The weather is promising! As we did Thursday, Levels 3 and 4 take the same route until Kennedy Rd where they take different turns, meeting up again on Cavan Rd. Level 3 riders are expected to stay together in a group, but each should carry a map. Level 4 riders may (or may not) remain together throughout the ride, but each rider is expected to be self-sufficient and able to navigate independently if necessary.

Thursday May 22: Ride to Bewdley and Back
It’s a great route! Lovely hills, lovely scenery. Levels 3 and 4 ride the same route until parting ways on Kennedy Rd, meeting up again later on Cavan Rd. Level 3 riders will stay together in a group, Level 4 will break off into groups according to ability. Everyone should come equipped with a printed map.

Port Hope Ride: Wed. May 21st 6:30pm
The weather’s getting better all the time for riding so come on out for a nice tour of the beautiful countryside surrounding Port Hope and see the unfolding of the season. We’ll head out along Lakeshore Rd, go north on Willow Beach Rd then loop back along the 4th line and Sylvan Glen Rd. We won’t go too fast and no one will be left behind.

Reminder: Cycling Skills & Safety Course starts Tuesday night
The 5-week long NHCC Cycling Skills & Safety Course will happen, regardless of weather. You’ll need to bring your bicycles, but not to worry, there’s plenty of indoor bike-parking. There is still space to sign-up for the class! Just send us an email and we’ll count you in.

Wednesday May 21, Level 2, 18km
This route is 18km in length. We will be meeting at “The Mill” golf course parking lot. This route is a few more hills than the route last week but the down hill at the end makes up for it. Don’t worry about keeping up with the crowd—It’s a no-drop ride, we work together and support each other.
Notes: Helmets are mandatory. Please bring your membership card with you. If you mailed in your membership forms, your cards will be issued to you at the ride.
