August 20th Sunday Morning Level 3 Ride
For those who weren’t able to join the Prince Edward County ride or anyone looking to get additional kilometres this weekend.
The Burham Burn loop gets it name from that feeling you get in your legs while climbing through Cold Springs on the way to flatter grounds north of there.
Things do get better on Beaver Meadow and Harwood Road but pick up again on Stewart and Danforth.
There are some nice descents on Harwood, Hoskin and Danforth to make up for the climbs.
This is a no drop ride so there will be frequent stops along the way. That said for those wishing for a shorter route Harwood can be taken to Racetrack and Smylie-(https://ridewithgps.com/routes/24400604)
Starting Point: Hamilton Twp. Offices, Majestic Hills off Burnham Road.
Start Time: 10:00 am
Ride Leader: Roberto
Route: Burham Burn 58 km https://ridewithgps.com/routes/24316177
CANCELED: Tues Aug 22 Port Hope “Cookie Run”
Unfortunately due to the likelihood of more thunderstorms this evening riders will have to wait for cookies until later date. Pam has another awesome ride from Kings field South end of Victoria St Port Hope.
Pam: “We will call this route the Cookie Run for reasons which will only become clear if you participate. 🙂 We will head west along Lakeshore Rd, as we have done before but now that it’s August and we’ve got our cycling legs, we’ll do a loop which will take us a bit farther and challenge us with a few hills. From Lakeshore Rd west, we’ll head up Willow Beach Rd (a bit of a hill here but don’t worry, we’ll take a break at the top) to the 4th Line, back east along the 4th where there are a few medium hills (again with stops as needed) all the way to Sylvan Glen Rd where we will turn south again and coast back into town and our starting point. This ride might be a bit more challenging than some level 2 riders have done before but there will be a number of stops and check-ins to see how everyone’s doing. Absolutely no one will be left behind and we will find a pace within everyone’s comfort zone. The feeling of accomplishment at the end is going good to be AWESOME! Please bring lots of water, a desire to see some gorgeous countryside and a spirit of adventure and determination. It’s going to be great!”
Start Time: 6pm (note earlier start)
Ride Leader: Pam Cookie Monster Tate
Start Location: King’s Field, South End of Victoria St. Port Hope
Ride Cancellation Notice: Thursday August 17 Evening Ride
RIDE CANCELLATION NOTICE: Due to rain (in particular, thunderstorms) in the forecast we are going to postpone tonight’s ride until next Thursday when we’ll try it one more time!
Pre-announcing the 50/100k ride in September
Every September we do a 100km ride (with a 50km option too) to Presqu’ile Park and back. It’s a great goal to work toward if you are looking to set a goal! This is about the flattest (aka easiest) 100k around and we should all be in great shape to give it a try. We’ll aim to scheduled it for the weekend of September 23 or 24th, whichever day looks better. Should that weekend be a total fail as far as weather goes, we’ll do it the following weekend. So, mark your calendars and start preparing.
Prince Edward County Saturday August 19th All Levels Ride
We are only 3 days away from our second Prince Edward County County ride!
After taking in the Lake on the Mountain area in June, we will explore the equally stunning Bloomfiled/West Lake/Sandbanks area.
Looks we will have ideal weather conditions for our beautiful 36 km route. It’s a flat offering, and as with past all levels rides there will be stops along the way. We will make a quick stop at the village of West Lake/the Dunes beach and a longer stop at Sandbanks Park/Outlet beach.
Riders will ride in small groups at their preferred speed levels, regrouping at the next stop. Its not a race by any means. Please comment below to let us know whether you are coming out. Please indicate your preferred ride level so others know who they can ride with.
Starting point: Bloomfield Main Street (departing from in front of Bloomfiled Bike Shop located at 225 Main Street)
Parking: on street along Main Street
Time: 10:00 am
Route: Bloomfield to Sandbanks and Back https://ridewithgps.com/routes/20667934

Thursday August 17: Level 3/4 ride, Sylvan Glen to Osaca
There’s this strange perception that the Level 4 group is insanely fast or something, but we’re here to tell you it’s not the case! A number of Level 3s have been pleasantly surprised to find they can do it, no problem! Occasionally we break off into a couple of different pace groups but more often than not we tend to stay together. This route starts at Sylvan Glen Conservation area and we head over the Port Hope way, up County Rd 10 and then along the 7th line then over to the Osaca direction. Nice hilly route, but not super crazy. Let’s hope the weather cooperates!
Start time: 6:00pm
Ride Leader: Anita Macklin
Start location: Sylvan Glen Conservation Area (Port Hope)
