ALL THE WHEELY FUN CLUB NEWS!

August 12th Saturday Morning All Levels Ride

This all levels ride will head east along the Waterfront Trail, veering north east of Grafton, as far as each rider would like to go.

Level 1 riders can stay in town or venture out to Archers Road and back.

Level 2’s may wish to go as far as Wicklow Beach Road, whereas 3’s and 4’s may complete the 80 km  loop at their respective speeds and usual rules (e.g. No drop, frequent stops).

One of those stops may be at Lola’s Coffee shop in Brighton.

Please leave a comment if you are coming, and indicate the level and distance you’re hoping for, it often encourages others who would like to come out but don’t know whether they’ll have someone to ride with.

After all, most of us join a club to ride with others! As it’s an all levels Sunday ride, there won’t be leaders for each group.

Date: Saturday August 12, 2017
Time: 9:00
Meeting Location: Donegan Park
Levels: all
Ride Organizer: Roberto

Route Map: Brighton Loop

Thursday Aug. 10: Evening Ride, Level 3/4

Everyone thinks the Level 4 ride is super crazy fast and hard, and we’re here to tell you it’s just not! This is a groovy Level 4 ride, but also one that Level 3s should also be able to manage if you don’t mind a few hills! This route has those rolling hills of Danforth, but also some really great downhills, especially Lyle St. in Grafton where you can yell “yeeeeeeeehaaaaaaa” while going down. Two distances to choose from, both starting at Cycle Transitions. The deciding point about which distance you’ll take doesn’t happen until we are around the 18km point, near St. Anne’s spa. Note the 6:00 start time!

Start time: 6:00pm
Ride Leader: Anita Macklin
Start Location: Cycle Transitions parking lot on D’Arcy St.

August 9th Wednesday Night Level 3 Ride

Mike is out of town this week leaving the Wednesday night ride in capable hands. Then it was learned that Allen is not available leaving things up to a 3rd stringer.

We’ll start at the Hamilton Twp. offices heading north to Vimy Ridge either through Kennedy or Jibb depending on the state of the former. We’ll take Morton to Cavan heading back on Beaver Meadow and Harwood Road. Time permitting we might try to tack on a couple extra clicks.  Bring your lights just in case.

Please comment below to let us know if you’re coming out. Hearing from others is a great motivator. Lets have some fun!!

Call for Volunteers for Bike Up Northumberland, Saturday September 9th

Saturday, September 9th marks the 3rd annual Bike Up Northumberland ride. This ride for all ages and levels is a fundraiser for both the Northumberland Hills and Campbellford Hospitals. Monies raised are split evey between the two hospitals and proceeds are used to purchase life saving equipment. NHCC has had a strong showing of riders each year of which we are proud. We have also provided an incredible number of volunteers which make this event possible.

As volunteer coordinator for Bike Up, I am once again asking for NHCC members and anyone that you know who would be interested (family, friends, students in need of volunteer hours…) to help out. We require 2 people to take care of each of the refreshment/turnaround stations at 5, 10, 50, and 100km, as well as 2 riders to act as sweep for each ride distance of 5, 10, 25, 50km. (100km is already taken care of. Big thanks to Jim Keill and Tara Smith Wilson!)

It’s a fun day for a worthwhile cause and if you can help out, please contact me through the comments, emailing the club, or me directly if you have my number (which I don’t post on this public page!)

Thanks!

Maria
