Northumberland Hills Cycling Club (NHCC) is the largest and most active cycling club centred around Cobourg, Ontario. With 100+ fun people to ride with, 11 regular season weekly rides, hiking and snowshoeing in off-season, and endless friendships to be made!

The big Year-End Social and AGM is coming up!
Our annual social event of the year, the AGM & Social is a little over two weeks away. There will be a great buffet at the Best Western, and we’ll take the evening to celebrate cycling with the NHCC, discuss new directions for next year, get a great deal on membership for 2017, and purchase a jersey too! We’ll also elect a few new directors and do a little official but necessary biz.
By the way, friends and family are welcome. Tickets must be purchased in advance! Cost: $30

With the changing of the seasons we’re transitioning from biking to hiking. It’s going to be warm but wet tomorrow so Roy is inviting whomever would like to go for a hike to meet him at the Yacht Club parking lot at 9:00 followed by coffee and social time at Harden and Huyse. Just comment below to let him know to expect you

Not much in the way of cycling is happening on our roads lately, but there is a cycling film, Murphy’s Law at The Loft in Cobourg on Sunday evening. It would be great if a number of us were to make it out to the event and maybe even meet for dinner beforehand! Check out the information here.

Yes indeed, the timing is just perfect, NHCC jerseys have arrived! We have sleeveless, short sleeved and long-sleeved versions. If you reserved one last month, just get in touch and make arrangements to pick it up. We also have a few extras in case you somehow missed it. There are fabulous long-sleeved ones that are going to be ideal any day now as the evenings are going to be cooling down significantly.

The weather is way to nice to put the bikes away. I have moved up the start time so we can get the route in with plenty of day light left. There will be a ride leader provided for the L2 and L3s.

Hey NHCC members, it’s the time of year when a number of people are looking to sell bikes, upgrade, or otherwise make changes to their cycling gear. If you send us a few pictures, information about the bike and your preferred contact information we’ll get it posted for you right here on our website!
Bike for Sale: 2012 Specialized Allez Sport, ($750)
If any member is interested in upgrading their hybrid to a road bike, here’s a 2012 Specialized Allez Sport. It has an aluminum frame with carbon fibre front forks, has only been on the road for about 180km, and is a 54cm bike. Likely suitable for someone who is 5’6″-5’8″, give or take a little. Price: $750

Thursday Sept. 29: The final evening Level 4 ride (level 3 can come too)!
This is it folks, the final evening ride of 2016 season! We’re gonna make this one count, make it fun, and if you want we can head into Boston Pizza afterward to eat a little something. Limited daylight hours mean just a 60 minute ride. By the way, we won’t be going super fast or speedy, so if level 3 riders will be quite suited for this ride too if you want to squeeze in one last evening ride!

Fall Workshop Series at Cycle Transitions
Now that Fall is here, it’s a great time to think about a little bike maintenance to keep that trusty bicycle in great shape for next season. Cycle Transitions is offering a series of workshops that you might want to add to your calendar!
Thursday, September 29: Gearing: How to gear properly for road conditions.
Thursday October 13: Electric Bikes: A demonstration model and discussion of electric bike merits. Doug Radford, president of Go Pedelec Canada will present a model of his locally based company.
Thursday October 27: Bottom Brackets: Identify the types, and learn how to maintain, repair and change.
Thursday November 3: Winter Prep: Prepare your bike for winter storage, or better yet, usage!

Refreshments: cookies/doughnuts, juice/coffee/tea, fruit
Cost: FREE for Cycle Transitions members and $5 per workshop for non-members.
