Anyone up for an early afternoon ride on Wednesday? I have a couple of hours to kill before the Bike Up meeting and what better way to do that than a bike ride? Maybe Cornish Hollow or some variation? We can decide once we see who can make it and what they’d like to do.

Sunday Aug. 28: 33 or 42k route, mixed levels
We have a new route for this Sunday with two distances to choose from. Dale Pierce has established this route and says there is some beautiful scenery, nice shade, wonderful downhills (especially Woodvale School Rd.) and of course a few uphills (what would an NHCC ride be without those). The hills may be a little challenging for Level 2 but not impossible if you plan to walk a little of the way up.
Please leave a comment indicating your planned distance (33 or 42k). Also, are there any volunteers to lead the shorter 33k route?
Start time: 9:00
Start location: Kings Field in Port Hope
Ride leader (42k): Anita Macklin

Volunteer cycling movie stars needed for tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the second installment of the county’s cycling safety & tourism video shoot and they could use a few more volunteers. If you missed your shot at fame the last time, it’s your opportunity!
The locale for this video shoot will be at the corner of Dejong and Honeywell Hill Rd. and will require about 1.5 hours of your time. A couple of minor requirements:
- Please wear brightly colored clothing without identifiable logos (i.e. no NHCC jerseys)
- Be aware and plan to adhere to cycling safety guidelines
- Start time: 9:30am
If you are able to participate or have any further questions, please let Angela know by email at angela@angelacjohnson.com
Thursday Sept 1: Bikes, Beards and Bandshells 7pm
![]()
In one week from today there is a special (non-club) event happening in Cobourg that might be of interest to fellow cyclists. The Bikes, Beards and Bandshells Tour is performing at Victoria Park. It sounds like a fun evening of fun and entertainment!
About
The Tour will take an eclectic group of independent Canadian musicians from the beautiful 1000 Islands, along the shores of the St. Lawrence River, through idyllic Prince Edward County and along the edge of Lake Ontario to Cobourg. The group will cycle almost 300 km without a support vehicle, hauling a full bicycle-powered sound system and instruments with them and playing free, pedal-powered concerts in bandshells, amphitheatres and gazebos along the route.
Start time: 7pm
Location: Victoria Park Bandshell
Thursday Aug. 25: Level 4 (and 3+) ride from Hamilton Township Offices
This is a really nice route with rolling hills and some fun & fast downhill. If you are a fairly strong Level 3 rider you’ll likely be able to do this! There is some great scenery around Rice Lake. We’ll make a brief stop in Harwood to re-load water bottles. It’s a great 37km route and the hills won’t kill you!
Start time: 6:00pm
Ride Leader: Anita Macklin
Start location: Hamilton Township Offices parking lot (Burnham and Majestic Hills Rd.)
Route Map: Link to route on Ride with GPS
All Evening Rides will now start at 6:00pm
Just a quick note to let everyone know that daylight hours are shrinking quickly so we are going to start all evening rides at 6:00pm.
Tuesday, August 23rd: Level 2 Ride
Pam’s leading the group for the Tuesday evening Level 2 ride. Don’t forget to get there by 6:00 as we’re starting evening rides earlier because it’s getting dark earlier (sob!). Get out and enjoy these evening rides while we can still have them!
Date: Tuesday, August 23rd
Time: 6:00
Level of Difficulty: Level 2
Meeting Location: Canton church parking lot
Ride Leader: Pam Tate
