ALL THE WHEELY FUN CLUB NEWS!

Tues Aug 16th, Level 2 Ride, Port Hope

NOTICE: RIDE CANCELLED

Pam, our Tuesday Level 2 Ride Leader says:

“Let’s meet at King’s Field on Victoria St in Port Hope. From there we will head west along Lakeshore Rd. I that way, if it is hot, we can remain close to the lake and if it’s cooler, we can head north a bit and loop back to the start. No special notes except to be sure to bring lots of water and a spirit of adventure. (!)”

Please chime in and let us know that you are coming! The views of the lake are spectacular along Lakeshore Rd. If you haven’t tried this yet, you are in for a eye-spirit-exhilarating experience!

Remember your lights as dusk sneaks up quickly these days.

Start time: 6:30pm
Ride Leader: Pam Tate
Start Location: King’s Field on Victoria St in Port Hope. (Top of the hill just south of Hwy 2)
Route: Out Lakeshore and back, cheering all the way:)

Monday, August 15: Level 1, Ice Cream Ride

It’s still hot out there so Dennis is going to incorporate and ice cream stop into Monday’s ride so bring a little money for a treat!

Ride Leader: Dennis Benson

Wednesday August 17: All Levels Ride & Patio Social, Boston Pizza

It’s our monthly All Levels ride! This time we’ll populate the patio at Boston Pizza afterward and enjoy the company of other club members you may or may not have already met while sipping beer and nibbling snacks.

All Levels rides are simple: We have one route, one start time. We ride for 45 minutes along an out-and-back route then turn around and come back. Everyone arrives back at the same time, everyone rides their desired pace, and everyone is happy! Since the daylight hours are shrinking back all the time, we’ll start this one a little earlier.

Start time: 6:00pm (Ride), and 7:30pm (patio social)
Start location: Parking lot at Boston Pizza
Ride Coordinator: Anita Macklin
Route map: Printable route map here or link to it on Ride with GPS

RSVP: Hey folks, we need to make sure they reserve enough patio space for us, so please leave a comment to let us know you’ll be around for the social portion and we can make sure Boston Pizza will accommodate us.

Looking for route and ride leader for Sunday

Okay, so here’s the deal. We want to open up this Sunday to suggestions. Is there’s anyone out there wanting to take the lead on this coming Sunday and propose a route and lead the ride? It’s your chance to do it your way, and get a ride going! Let’s get the discussion started. Use the comment feature to suggest a route option. Even if we have to drive a little bit out of town, people might like that too. Be creative!

NHCC Fall Jersey orders!

NHCC Club jerseysWe’re thinking about placing another jersey order if there are enough people interested. We’re hoping to get them in stock by the end of September for the cooler cycling weather! The short-sleeve jersey is the standard jersey you see on most of the folks on our rides. The long-sleeve version is really thick and warm & cozy, perfect for colder weather!

Thursday August 11: Rollin on up to Millbrook!

We’re heading on up to Millbrook again. The pavement is excellent, there’s some nice shady areas. It’s generally a fairly easy route and you’ll see alpacas along the way! They are actually quite amusing and last time prompted us into a short roadside viewing. No route map required because it’s so straightforward. By the way, if you are a relatively strong Level 3 rider, you’d be able to handle this one, so come on out and give it a try!

Start time: 6:30pm
Ride Leader: Anita Macklin
Start location: Hope Township Office parking lot

Wed. August 10 – 38 km. Level 3

This week we will be riding a relatively flat but fast route. We will follow the Waterfront Trail to Wicklow and back.

Start Time:  6:30 pm
Ride Leader: Mike Mclellan
Start Location: Donnagan Park

Tues Aug 9th Level 2 & 2+ Cornish Hollow

We will head up to the shade of the tree tunnels of Cornish Hollow to get away from the heat. Geoffrey will lead a 21 k level 2 ride. If there is interest and someone to lead he has a level 2+/3 route mapped out. Please chime in with  a comment letting us know what you are interested in, level 2 or 2+. Hopefully a rabbit will come out of the bushes to lead the level 2+ and a sweep may chime in. Remember your lights and water. We will be taking breaks as needed and no one is left behind.

Start Time:  18:30 (6:30 pm)

Ride Leader: Geoffrey Honey
