ALL THE WHEELY FUN CLUB NEWS!

Sunday, May 31st: Levels 3 and 4 ride

Update: Ride cancelled due to weather

As per our usual custom, Sunday’s ride will be a repeat of Thursday’s.  The ride leaves Donegan Park, and once we’re reached Orchard Road and County Road 25 just north of Colborne, the 54km riders turn south and head back to Cobourg while the 80km riders keep going to Brighton.

For those with the time and inclination to grab a bite to eat, there’s a Tim Hortons at the turn in Colborne, or Lola’s Coffee House in Brighton for those going the distance.  For those who’d like to make a stop, let the others know so people can find who they might ride with.

Date: Sunday, May 31st
Time: 10:00
Start location: Donegan Park, D’arcy Street, Cobourg
Maps: Printable 54 or 80km map here or view it on Ride with GPS
Ride Coordinator: Anita Macklin

The NHCC four years ago

For those who don’t know, the NHCC has been an official “Club” since 2011–just four years ago! We have come a long way since then, almost tripling our membership. There was a time when there were no jerseys, or club colours, but we always had friendship. For a blast from those days, take a look and see where we were four years ago.

Ride Leader: Mike McLellan

Thursday. May 28th, Levels 3 and 4

This week Thursday’s ride offers two options. Both start at Donegan Park in Cobourg and after a warm up, head for some hills, but when we’re at the Tim Hortons in Colborne, those wishing to do the 54km loop turn towards the lake and head back along the Waterfront Trail. Riders out for the 80km ride will continue on to Brighton where there’s the oppportunity for a lunch stop at Lola’s, on the main street in Brighton. The ride then heads back home along the Waterfront Trail.

Please indicate which distance you’re thinking of doing and whether you want to make the stop at Lola’s so others can figure out who they might be able to ride with.

Start Location: Donegan Park, D’Arcy Street, Cobourg

Wednesday May 27, L2 Ride

20km with a few hills
This ride starts at the Arena on Furnace Street and will then head out into the countryside, There’s a few hills in this ride but we are going to take it sloooooow and learn some strategies to get up those hills. Don’t let it scare you—that’s what those smaller chain rings are for!  The scenery outside of town is worth it.

A Special Invitation

Fellow NHCCers,
We (Randy and Anita) are getting married on Friday June 5th and are having a casual celebration of our marriage from 7:00-10:00pm that same evening at Randys house. Just drop-in anytime! Our intention was to hand-deliver invitations to all our friends within the NHCC but are running out of time so here we go, we are posting this invitation right on our Club website! As NHCC-ers you are hereby invited to attend our evening celebration!

No gifts, please. Seriously! We have everything we need and more. However, please bring a lawn chair and your favourite beverage. Home brewed beer will be available as long as quantities last. There will be a variety of refreshments and desserts to nibble on. If however, one does feel incredibly compelled to bring some tasty ready-to-serve party foods, well…. ok, but it’s not necessary 🙂 (note that our kitchen will not be available for food preparation, and we will be outdoors)

If anyone feels so inclined and would also like to see the ceremony earlier in the day, it’s taking place at Victoria Hall at 4:00pm in the Old Bailey. All are welcome.

Time: anytime from 7:00-10:00
Location: Randys home
IMPORTANT: RSVP please: Just drop us a quick email to let us know you are coming so we can be sure to plan adequately. We’ll also supply you the address. anita@anitamacklin.com or randyalbon@gmail.com

Monday, May 25th, Level 1 ride

This week’s ride will be two loops. We’ll set off and do one loop then return to the meeting spot, then anyone who wants to ride more can do the second loop as well.

Date: Monday, May 25th

Time: 6:30 pm

Meeting Location: the parking lot behind the Dutch Oven

Ride Leader: Maria Siemiaszko

Sunday May 24: Level 3 & 4 Ride to Bewdley

On Sunday we plan to ride to Bewdley and back. Choose from either 44k or 59k distance options. The 44k doesn’t go right into Bewdley however, so there’s no opportunity to re-load on drinks or snacks. If you ride to Bewdley, there’s always Rhinos for lunch if you feel so inclined. Let others know by leaving a comment if you plan to go for lunch.

A little reminder about Level 3 and Level 4 rides:
Level 3: The group generally rides at a slower pace, and the expectation is that everyone rides together but without a ride leader. All should carry a route map and be equipped to repair a flat if necessary.
Level 4: A quicker pace, and although the expectation isn’t that everyone must remain together in a group, it sure is nice to ride together. No ride leader and everyone must have a map.

Start time: 10am
Start location: The arena parking lot on Furnace St., Cobourg

Route map (59k) Level 4: 59k Printable route map here, or view it on Ride with GPS
