ALL THE WHEELY FUN CLUB NEWS!

Saturday Ski (February 14)

It looks as though Saturday will be the warmest day this weekend. If you want to go for a cross country ski, come on out and join us.

Date: Saturday, February 14th
Time: 1:00
Place: Northumberland Forest, parking lot off of Beagle Club Road

Evening Cross Country Ski (or snow shoe or hike!)

We’ve cycled the Lang Hastings Trail but it’s an all season multi-purpose trail and the conditions are now good for a ski, snow shoe or hike. Since it’s flat, it’s easy to use after sunset. Please note that snow mobiles are also allowed to use the trail so if you have any lights that you can wear it’s a good idea to bring them

Date: Saturday, January 31st

Time : 6:00 pm

Place: at the trail on Bay Street West in Hastings. Once you enter Hastings on Hwy 45, Bay Street West is the first left after you pass the Ultramar and other gas Station. Drive west on Bay Street W. – the trail access is just where the road bends to the right. There is a sports field on the left immediately before the trail. You can park at the side of the road beside the sports field.

For those who wish to car pool from the lot at 45/401 in Cobourg, meet by 5:15.

Idea Person: Maria Siemiaszko (I’m skiing)

Please indicate whether you want to meet at the car pool or in Hastings so we look out for you, and which activity you’re interested in so that others will know if they’ll have any company

Velotine Social and Dance Party (Hosted by the OCC)

Velotine-SmallThe fine folks at the Oshawa Cycling Club have kindly extended the invitation to their Velotine Social & Dance Party to those of us at the NHCC. Date: Friday, February 13, 2015

If any NHCC’ers plan to attend and are interested in carpooling, use the commenting feature to let others know. Save on gas, ya know!

Sunday Snowshoe (Sunday January 25th)

The Pine Ridge Hiking Club has a snowshoe hike planned for this Sunday from Maria’s house and if any NHCC members would like to join in, you are welcome to. If there isn’t enough snow for snowshoes, we’ll hike instead, in which case if you have icers and/or hiking poles it may be a good idea to bring them along.

Date: Sunday, January 25th
Time: meet to car pool at either the Home Hardware parking lot, Toronto Road in Port Hope by 9:15 or 45/401 car pool lot in Cobourg by 9:30
Hike Leader: Maria Siemiaszko

Hike tonight, Cancelled: It’s just too insanely cold and windy out there, which just takes all the fun out of hiking. Sorry folks—See you all next time!

Wednesday January 7: Hike in Port Hope

CANCELLED: Too darned cold out there (Sorry)!
So what if it’s going to be supremely cold, we can still hike, no? Gather your warmest socks and wear lots of layers. We’ll adjust the length of the hike according the chill-factor of those who are hiking. And of course we’ll prepare to head into a local establishment for some hot chocolate or tea.

Time: 6:00pm
Location: Port Hope Town Hall parking lot
Hike leader: Pamela Tate

Please RSVP by leaving a comment so we don’t stand in the parking lot shivering too long, wondering who might be coming. 🙂

Whitby Hike and Movie (Wild): Saturday Jan. 10

There are several members who are interested in seeing the movie Wild, based on a true story of a woman who decided to hike more than 1000 miles of the Pacific Coast Trail. If it is still playing at the Whitby Landmark Theatre this weekend, we’ll carpool over to Whitby for a hike along the Waterfront trail then catch a late afternoon showing. If you’d like to join us, please let us know so we can meet up with you! If there is anyone from Port Hope that wants to go, we can meet you at the car pool lot on Toronto Road.

Date: Saturday, January 10th
Meeting Time Car Pool Lot 45/401: 12:45
Meeting Time Car Pool Lot Toronto Road Port Hope: 1:00 (Please note we won’t stop in Port Hope unless we know there will be someone waiting there so RSVP!)
Hike Leader: Maria Siemiaszko

New Years Day: Hike instead of Bike

It seems that most are preferring a hike over a freezing cold bike ride so we are making the executive decision to Hike torrow from Randys. So, bundle up warmly and we will see y’all at 1:00. Have a Happy and festive New Year’s tonight!

Saturday January 3, 12km Hike & Indian Food, 1:00pm

After the much anticipated and beloved New Year’s Day ride and potluck at Randy’s, we’ll take a day off then hike at eat at Maria’s. We’ll hike about 12km of hilly trails, but if some wish to do a flatter and shorter hike, we could try to offer an alternative if there’s demand for it. Indian food to follow. Bring along your drink of choice. NHCC will be starting off 2015 right!

Date: Saturday, January 3rd, 2015
Time: 1:00pm
Meeting Time at Car Pool Lot 45/401: be ready to leave at 12:30
Location: Maria’s outside of Warkworth
Hike Leader: Maria Siemiaszko (12km hike)
Please RSVP by leaving a comment to say you’re coming so we can plan accordingly.
