Wednesday June 24: Level 2 Ride in Port Hope

This week’s level 2 ride is being lead by Pamela Tate, and she’ll take you out in the Port Hope area for something a little different. Meet at the Gilmer’s Home Hardware parking lot under the big Gilmer’s sign. The level of difficulty for this ride will be a standard level 2:  so you can expect somewhere between 25 and 30km for distance and no crazy hills. (may include a few little inclines that can’t really be avoided in our area)

Start time: 6:30
Start location: Gilmer’s Home Hardware parking lot
Ride Leader: Pamela Tate

Sunday, June 28th: Levels 1 and 2 Presqu’ile Ride

This Sunday we’ll head out for a ride in the Presqu’ile area. The roads in the park have been repaved so we’ll enjoy a smooth as well as scenic ride! The ride will have 2 options, those wishing a shorter distance will meet at the boat launch parking lot just east of the park, while riders wanted a longer ride with a couple of little hills will meet at an earlier time in Colborne and meet the Level 1 riders at the boat launch. Bring fluids, a snack, and some money as there’s usually an opportunity for ice cream (although the fudge at the light house is always popular!)

Level 1
Time: 11:00
Meeting Place: boat launch parking lot east of Presqu’ile Park
Ride Leader: Dennis Benson

Level 2
Time: 10:00
Meeting Place: Keeler Centre parking lot, Colborne
Ride Leader: Maria Siemiaszko

Please take note of the start time and location for the ride you wish to do, and let us know if we’re to expect you!

Sunday June 28, 2015: 100km ride to Presqu’ile and Back

2012 NHCC Ride to Presqu'ile

Previous NHCC Ride to Presqu’ile Park

This Sunday is the first Century Ride of the season. You can however, make it a 50k by turning around in Colborne and returning to Cobourg. For 100k, we ride to the lighthouse at Presqu’ile Park then return home. Take a lunch-break at a restaurant in Brighton, or stay on the move by bringing some sustenance with you (aka portable snack foods) and lots of water.

Century Rides are not about speed, it’s about going the distance. How long does it actually take to ride 100km? If you don’t stop for lunch, between 4 and 5.5 hours. Level 3 travels together, likely at a slower pace, and level 4’s may break off into groups according to ability.

Time: 9:00am
Start Location: The parking lot behind the Dutch Oven
Skill level: Levels 3 and 4
Route map: Waterfront Trail (signed route—no route map necessary)

Leave a comment to let others know your plans regarding distance and lunch.

A thank you to our Friends in the NHCC

IMG_1520Dear Friends,
Randy and I want to take a moment to thank all our friends in the NHCC who helped to make our recent marriage celebration such fun, and so memorable. We loved seeing all those blue jerseys and happy smiling faces at the town hall after our ceremony. We’ve always said it feels like everyone in the Club is like family to us, and you sure did make it feel that way for us with your cheering and enthusiasm!

We also want to say that we are especially grateful and thankful for the unexpected and very generous gifts from our “Friends in the NHCC”. We will be dining in style for some time to come! For those who came to the outdoor celebration in the evening at Randy’s house, thank you for braving the elements to celebrate with us. Your presence seemed to diminish the outside temps and made us feel warm and cozy.

Randy and Anita
