Wednesday August 7: Level 3 and 4 rides (NEW start time)

IMPORTANT: Please note that due to the earlier sunsets and shorter days, there is a new start time of 6:00pm

Level 3 Group Ride: “A slightly shorter route than last Wednesday but don’t be fooled. We’ll still have plenty of opportunities to burn up those calories whilst enjoying the countryside. Steady climb to start with but then a glorious ride down to Rice Lake, a photo op at the lake shore no doubt, and then a meandering route home. Should be fun! Looking forward to seeing you all there. Please do post a comment and let us know that you are planning to ride. Nights are beginning to draw in so do not forget lights (or to fully charge them!).”

Level 4: This week’s Level 4 follows the same route as Level 3 for the first 33km, but then diverts down Williamson then takes in Bickle Hill for some added fun! It’s a 12km extension making a total of 51km. This is the group where you can set whatever pace you like! It’s likely that the group will stay together, but breaking into smaller units according to pace preference is certainly an option.

Ride Leaders: Allan Dennis (Level 3),  Self-navigated (Level 4)
Start time: 6:00pm
Sunset: 8:29pm

Wednesday July 31: Level 3 and 4 ride

“We’ve done this route in the past couple of years but just to change it up and give you a different perspective on the same countryside we’ll do it the other way round. Don’t worry the RWGPS reflects this reversed direction of travel! The name’s new too. Hint for those of you trying to crack the naming convention: What was the original name of Ottawa and why? Looking forward to a great ride. Come and join us!” (Allan)

Level 4 option: this week it will consist of a 5km extension that starts around the 24km mark and covers a loop around Eddystone making it a 51km route.  After completing the extension, the route reconnects to the shorter L3 route until the end.  Hey, if you aren’t sure about keeping up with the level 4 group, feel free to start out with them and then you always have the option of waiting at the 23km mark if you want to wait and re-join the Level 3 group ride.

Level 3 and 4 Ride: Wednesday July 17

Level 3: This Wednesday’s routes are a combination of previous routes starting out from Grafton Sports Arena car park. We’ve changed the direction of travel along some sections to give you all a different view of the countryside and the opportunity to enjoying going down some of those hills you battled up earlier in the season (of course you’ll also have to climb some of those hills you enjoyed speeding down!). The L3 group ride will go at a Level 3 pace with a Allan leading in front, and a sweep at the back of the group.

Level 4: If you want to go a little faster and farther, give the self-navigated Level 4 option a try. It’s essentially the same route for the first 9km until Vernonville where you can decide if you want to continue along the 5km extension, or hold back and wait to re-join Level 3. The extension eventually turns onto Telephone Rd where both routes are identical until the finish. If you need help installing the Ride with GPS app on your phone just fire off an email to and we’ll get you underway!

Level 3 Group Ride: Monday July 15

OK, so last Wednesday we did a bit of climbing – but the downhills made it all worthwhile!  This Monday Allan has a less hilly course plotted but a little longer, 45kms, so no worry you’ll still manage to burn up all those excess calories! The more rolling countryside to the West of Port Hope should be ideal for a great Level 3 group ride.
