Hey Everyone—Yeeeeehawwwww! Let’s Roll!

Pump up the tires, lube the chain, make sure your lights are charged—the NHCC is riding on Saturday and also on Sunday! We’ve waited patiently, and the time has finally come.  These two rides will be out and back routes, allowing for riders of all levels to ride as long or far as you wish, separated into groups of 10 or less (to be determined at the ride start) in accordance with Ontario’s Stage 1 gathering limits. They’ll be nice casual, recreational rides to get ourselves rolling again!

In order to participate in Club rides:

  • You must be a club member (sorry, no guests at this time). If you aren’t a member yet, Join Here.
  • Please bring your mask and wear it while we assemble at the Ride Start. (You do not need to wear it while riding)
  • RSVP (important): Please RSVP by leaving a comment on the website, or emailing secretary@northumberlandhillscyclingclub.com to indicate which day you will ride (ride both if you want!).  It will help us enormously to do a little advance planning.

For those who aren’t quite ready to ride yet—We understand, and respect your choice. We look forward to riding with you when the time is right!

NHCC Rides for the Week of April 4

The NHCC recognizes that for some there is immense value in having an outdoor activity to pursue so we are offering 3 rides this week. This week's rides will be capped with a limit of 5 participants each (including the Ride Planner) in keeping with COVID restrictions. RSVPs are required for all rides (see instructions below).

The safest way to ride your bike of course is still to ride solo, or with members of your immediate household. We are also conscious that not everyone will be comfortable riding with others at this time due to a wide range of reasons and we respect that. Be safe everyone!

Learning to use the Ride With GPS Club Account

Ride with GPS is the system we use to create routes and maps for Club rides and the NHCC maintains a Club Account for the benefit of all members. Those with their own individual Ride with GPS account (they are free!) can login to the NHCC Club Account at Ride With GPS to access great features including turn-by-turn audio navigation on club routes, the use of our Route Library for independent navigation, the ability to plan routes, print out maps from the Club Library, and more. Below are a few webinars to help Club members learn to make the most of the Club Account benefit. Hey, it’s a lockdown so what else have you got to do?

The Helmet Mirrors are Here!

For all who ordered and paid for their helmet mirrors, the shipment has arrived! Here’s how you can do the pickup. If you know where Randy and Anita live, you can stop by tomorrow:

Friday June 19: 12 noon to 8pm

If you need the address, text us your name and we’ll send it to you! 905-269-6815 (Anita).

If you need an alternative pickup time, you can also just text, phone, or email and we’ll sort it out. If you stop by the house, we may just be waaaaaayyyy out in the backyard, so do come around and yell!

Buy, Sell, Trade your bikes and/or other cycling gear

It’s that time of year when people start thinking about buying, selling, trading, or upgrading their bikes and other associated gear. Why not start here by leaving a comment with all of your details about what you are looking to sell/buy/swap? Please be sure to leave as much information as possible, as well as your contact information in the comment so that interested people can reach you.

If you know where my house is you can park there, along the street. We’ll be heading East this time, and go up Baker Rd for the unmaintained road portion, which is a link between Smylie and Cornish Hollow. Tuesday Morning Hike (Nov 26)

This Tuesday we are starting at the Hamilton Township Municipal Offices and take a 7.5km route along some unmaintained roads as well as some familiar ones. Leave us a comment if you are coming so we know to expect you.
