Level 1 Ride, Monday, July 8th

After a break for Canada Day, we will resume our Level 1 ride this week.  For those who are curious as to what a Level 2 ride is like, we’ll offer a chance for you to try it at your own pace this Wednesday (we’ll discuss this more at the ride on Monday). It’s always important to stay hydrated, especially with the hot weather we’ve been having so don’t forget to bring a drink – and your lights.

Time:  7:00 pm

Location:  Parking lot behind the Dutch Oven

Ride Leader:  Maria Garrett

Level 3-4 Monday Morning Ride

This is a ride for those interested in a few hills at a 3 to 4 level. We’ll see what time constraints anyone may have when we meet, any hills we may have our hearts set on, and take it from there.
Time: 9:30 am
Location: Furnace Street Arena (west side)
Ride Leader: Maria Garrett

Sunday July 6th: Ride from Donegan Park Waterfront Trail

This is the ride of choice when we want to do “distance” as opposed to “hills”. Ride slower, go longer, build endurance. And the best part is, everyone can choose their distance and speed because it’s out and back along the Waterfront Trail toward Brighton. If it’s hot and sunny, bring a few bucks to grab something cold and refreshing in Colborne. If you’re feeling really bright and chipper, ride all the way to Presqu’ile. 🙂

Start time: 9am
Start location: Donegan Park
Route map: Not necessary (signed Waterfront Trail)
Ride Leader Level 2: being determined
Ride Leader Level 3: Mike McLellan
Ride leader Level 4: being determined
Level of Difficulty: Levels 2, 3, and 4

If you can lead any of the levels, please mention it below in the comments section and I’ll insert your name up there lickety split!

Morning ride cancelled. Thunderstorms and rain in the forecast. Let’s hope for a clear evening!

Thursday July 4: 28, 45, or 63km (New start time: 9:00am)

This route has three options all on the same map. The map is from 2012, so there’s no link to it this time, just the printable version. The 28km route option may be suitable for Level 2 riders who are confident. We need volunteers to lead. Please use the comment section if you can lead one of the routes. The Tour de Northumberland Hills distance is only 17.6 for Thursday, so you get  your distance in regardless of which route you take.

Important note: For July and August, the morning ride start time is 9:00am

Start time: 9:00am
Start location: Parking lot behind Dutch Oven
Route map: Printable route map here
Ride Leader (Level 2): Being determined
Ride leader (Level 3):
Bruce Bellaire (if it doesn’t rain) 🙂
Ride leader (Level 4): Anita Macklin

Thursday July 4th, EVENING Ride option

Same as Thursday morning but only the short or medium route (no long route). If you are riding, please use the comment section to let others know. Although it doesn’t really get dark until 9:00, if you are riding the Medium route, you will likely need to have lights on your bike since they are required as of 8:28pm.

We’ll need ride leaders for the evening ride too. The Tour de Northumberland Hills distance is only 17.6 for Thursday, so you get  your distance in.

Start time: 6:30pm
Start location: Parking lot behind Dutch Oven

Ride Leader (Short route, 28km): Being determined
Ride leader (Medium route, 45km):

Sunday June 30th: NON-Century Ride for Normal Folks

Just in case you aren’t quite up to a 107km ride, we’ll have a more local, smaller option. Since the “usual” ride leaders may all be on the 107k, it’s important that everyone prints out their own maps for this ride. Besides, it’s good to be independent!

Start time: 10:00am
Start location: parking lot at The Mill Restaurant
Route Map (Level 3): 41km Printable route map
Route Map (Level 4): 56km Printable route map

Please comment below if you are going to participate on this ride. It’ll help others to know that there will be someone to ride with while the crazy folks are doing the Century ride. (By the way—After this Sunday, morning rides for July and August will start at 9:00am rather than 10:00.)
