Great News, Cycle Transitions has found a new home!

Cycle Transitions logoThe following is a Message from CT:
Great news! The Town of Cobourg has agreed to lease space in the old Public Works yard (390 King St W) to Cycle Transitions. The building is a 7000 square foot refurbished storage/work garage of which CT will make use of approximately 2000 square feet. We expect to move in mid-March with a re-opening to take place the first week in April.

As more details are worked out and we are able to set dates, we’ll provide you with more information including a call for volunteers to assist with moving in and setting up. We’re looking at two March Saturday mornings, one for clearing space and installing partition fencing, the other for unloading the storage semi-trailer and setting up the shop.
A reminder that all memberships will resume with the re-opening.

We give many thanks to Cobourg Council and staff for assisting and supporting us. They really stepped up and made things possible!

Come support the proposal for Cycle Transitions’ new home (Monday)

Cycle Transitions logoAs you know, Cycle Transitions closed its doors last summer and has been looking for a new home since. We’re asking NHCCers to come out and support the proposal being be made to Town Council this Monday. Barry Thrasher, Director of Public Works will outline provisions for leasing Cycle Transitions approximately 2,000 square feet of space in the old Public Works building on King St west. The proposal has developed after many consultations with Mayor Gil Brocanier, Deputy Mayor John Henderson, Chief Administrative Officer Stephen Peacock and other town staff – all of whom have been extremely supportive and helpful!

If Council approves the proposal, CT expects to re-open at the beginning of April just in time for the cycling season!! Please come out to show Council strong support for the proposal (wear your CT shirt if you have one).

Date: Monday, February 26, 2018
Time: 4pm (we’ll gather in the main lobby around 3:50)
Location: Council chambers, Victoria Hall

Open Call for Ride Leaders for the 2018 Cycling Season

Here ya go folks, it’s your opportunity to make a difference! The strength and variety of our NHCC ride schedule is 100% reliant on our volunteers. We are looking for ride leaders for the 2018 cycling season. More leaders means more rides! What we want is to establish a pool of ride leaders for each level that coordinators can call upon to make sure that all rides are covered. New for 2018: Each of the ride levels has two scheduled ride nights per week this year!

We’ll train you. You don’t need to be super-fit or super-experienced. What makes you qualified? Being an NHCC member (of course)! And heck, just a willingness to help out a little, and have a little safety training under your belt (really, that part’s essential, but we’ll get you trained up with a few ride-leader-training days before the season gets underway). Even if you can lead just an occasional ride here and there, we’d be thrilled to have you lead. The proposed ride schedule for 2018 is as follows:

Monday evenings: Level 1, and Level 3
Tuesday evenings: Level 2, and Level 4
Wednesday evenings: Level 1, and Level 3
Thursday evenings: Level 2, and Level 4
Sundays: Varied ride levels
Weekday morning rides: Varied ride levels

You don’t need to be all skilled and confident yet—we’ll get you there! So, how about it? There’s no obligation at this point, we’re just seeking an expression of interest on your part! We’ll take it from there.
