ALL THE WHEELY FUN CLUB NEWS!
New NHCC Directors for 2018!
It’s a new year (almost), and with that it means change! Anita has wrapped up 7.5 years since founding the Club, and Jim Berg has completed 4 years on the Board as our trusted treasurer. Although they are moving off the Board as directors, they aren’t moving far and they’ll be keeping busy in other Club capacities! And just so we won’t keep you in suspense any longer, here is your new Board of Directors!
President Extraordinaire: Debbie Parks
Vice-President: Maria Siemiaszko
Secretary: Roberto Almeida
Treasurer: Shabbir Maju
Director: Dennis Benson
Director: Raff Melito
Director: Freda Dong
We look forward to Debbie’s strong leadership as she takes the Club into 2018. She’s got a fabulous support crew around her so the NHCC is in good hands as the NHCC continues to ride for Fun, Fitness and Friendship.
Tuesday, November 21st: morning hike
Petra has a nice route planned out in the west end, and in case conditions are too wet and muddy in spots she will reroute the section down New Amherst to the lake. At any rate, wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring water. Social time at Craft to follow.
Start Time: 9:30
Meeting Location: parking lot at Westwood and Carlisle
Hike Leader: Petra Hartwig
Distance: approximately 7km
Memberships! (And some other stuff)
We had a bunch of people take advantage of the special $35 membership rate at our recent Annual Meeting. If you missed out on that opportunity, there is an early bird rate of $40 until Members’ Night in March (date to be announced). After that the price goes up to $45.
Besides saving some money, renewing early means that you won’t have to bring a signed waiver any time you want to participate in any of the off season activities. Our club insurance for 2017 ends in January so we are not covered if you aren’t a member. There is no charge to take part in the the off season activities so if you wish to bring along some friends or family members they also just need to provide the signed waiver form, which can be printed off here.
Evening Hikes! Good news for those missing the Wednesday evening hikes in Port Hope! Jim Berg has offered to lead them again beginning soon. Watch for the post.
Cycle Transitions could use your support tomorrow night
Cycle Transitions, our beloved do-it-yourself bicycle shop and cycling safety centre is homeless. We need your support tomorrow night as fellow club members Bruce Bellaire and Rick Nonnekes present their case to the Committee of the Whole meeting at the Town of Cobourg, advocating for the future of CT.
We in the NHCC have all benefitted from Cycle Transitions—whether it’s been a little mechanical assistance to repair your own bike, a venue for some valuable cycling safety training, or to take some winter bicycle maintenance workshops. CT has been instrumental in the NHCC certifying so many Can-Bike safety instructors!
Can you spare a little time tomorrow night to show up at the meeting at the Town Hall? We want the Town of Cobourg to recognize the importance of CT and the value it brings to the citizens of our community.
